Welcome to the forum. Back in the 70's I took the train from Beijing to Xi'an (24 hours) and it was a great experience and a lovely city. You can see the Xi'an province museum, the goose tower, and strolls The Great Wall. I really enjoyed the HuaQing pond and Terra-Cotta Army. http://beifan.com/011xian/11xian-page01.html This year my sister, who is living in China, also went to Xi'an from Guangzhou a few months ago..but she took the plane... http://www.sinohotelguide.com/aboutcanton/index.html I had more fun and experiences on my long train ride than she did on the plane..but I would still suggest the train for the seasoned traveler.
