o_O I ran a PC check and I was informed that I have a missing registry. The problem that caused me to do a PC System check was when I tried to shut down the computer windows would display "window is shutting down" but it does not shut down this windows just freezes there. I have to turn off the computer via the power button. The missing registry is-
    C:\system32\Wmdm.log(Invalid Registry Path)

    Help o_O

This has to do with Windows Media according to a Google Search.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\windows media device manager
    value: log.filename=C:\windows\system32\wmdm.log

you could try re-installing windows media player.....it may or may not solve the problem.

Did you use a registry cleaner on your system ?

This is all the info I can offer......in a hurry at the moment

    good luck

I don't think the two things (the forced shutdown and the missing registry entry) are related. Missing a .log file is usually not a big thing. When I use a registry checker, I usually find a bunch of invalid shortcuts, unused file extensions, etc. Those kinds of things are bound to pop up as a computer is used. If there's no functional issue, then don't worry about it.

Looks like our topic poster is gone....guess it was not all that important an issue......oh well.

if I understood correctly the Log file isn't missing....the Path is invalid...

    Correct Path:

    C:\windows\system32\wmdm.log

In-correct Path (as posted by topic poster)

    C:\system32\Wmdm.log

*notice the word "windows" missing from the in-correct path*

would this cause a computer to hang (it should'nt..)......share your thoughts.......

a good scandisk and defrag may help the issue............

Either way, I don't think it's a major issue. From what I understand, he did a forced shutdown, then did a registry check to see if it created any problems. That invalid entry was just something the check found. It was probably there before the shutdown and wasn't the cause of any problems, imo.

Are you using Win98? I had that same problem where I would get the Windows is shutting down screen but it just hangs. I never did find out why it did that. :(
