    Hi Nameless,

No offence taken :) As I keep saying, I'm a complete and utter novice.

I find that some registry cleaners / optimisers / whatever do in fact help, if only to a limited extent. I run Xp Pro Sp2 with an AMD 3500+ and 1 GB of RAM and no games - I'm far, far too old for that. Nonetheless, I find that after about six months or so the system starts to slow down noticeably. I then run a cleaner and hey presto, it's almost as good as new again.

This is not to negate your view on cleaners, not at all :). I can only remark on my own observations.

... maybe Eset will build a complete new Operatingsystem :p which is 100% compatible to Windows o_O without its negative features  because they know how it works :doubt: so there is no problem to do it :D

Microsoft's code is not free y'know....One would have to pay money (which will be enough to make 1000 businessmen bankrupt) to port the Win32 API to whatever operating system is currently being run. All the hooks will have to be converted into commands appropriate for the OS in use, potentially slowing down the system. It costs a lot and takes many years to make.

Hence it is better to simply keep developing on current APIs (and make separate versions for each platform) rather than modify it to run on may platforms so that a single application would run well on all operating systems without having to download separate versions for that platform. :p

hey Firecat, this was quite a joke :D this was alluded to the wish that Eset should integrate a registry optimizer, because they have the knowledge of the registry ;)

btw I'll think happy bytes will make this on his way to work and at his way home he will translate it into serveral languages *gggg*

Aah yes, Piktor will hef hees liddle joke. Still, from what I can see, it appears that Eset are in the process of developing a suite - if they haven't already.

I agree on the complete suite. But in my opinion, a security suite need only be:

    1. Firewall
    2. Antivirus
    3. Anti-spyware

No need for an optimizer, spam filter, registry cleaner or anything else. Just my opinion.

    Hello ejr,

    Thank you for your post.

As far as I am concerned, your opinion is as valid as any other. I agree entirely with you that a suite should have an anti-virus, an anti-spyware and a firewall component.

    Regards,
