    1. I just purchase TI version 9 and updated this version to the latest update.
    2. I installed MediaBuilder and tried to create a bootable CD
    3. I ran MediaBuilder and it wrote the image and files to the CD.
    4. Next I changed the setup to boot from only the CD drive.
    5. Restared my machine and voila - no bootable CD was found!
    6. Next I repeated steps 3 - 5 three more times with the same results.

Since I do not want Activate the Startup Recovery (had a bad experience with Symantec's GoBack that also changed the MBR and had to reinstall the whole system), I want to use a bootable CD

    7. So I made a bootable 3.5 diskettes using MedaBuilder
    8. I tested the bootable diskettes and it worked !!

Why doesn't MediaBuilder build a bootable CD?

The MediaBuilder indicated no errors and the I have a folder with files on the CD.

I am running Windows XP, my CD drive is NEC ND1100. and I have booted other CD using this CD drive.

Why can't I just get a bootable CD from Acronis? Can I?
Or why is MediaBuilder make creating a CD that is bootable?

If you launch True Image, under Tools, one of the options is "Create Bootable Rescue Media". That's what you need not MediaBuilder. Or use BartPe with a True Image Plugin see this thread: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=117950

I used the option under tools to create the CD but it did not work. Does TI9 need BartPE to create/load the CD?

Why does TI9 just fix this problem?

BartPe is not needed to create the CD. I've never had an issue creating the CD directly from True Image. Are getting any error messages? If so post them. Acronis has a plugin for BartPe and there is also a third party plugin availble at the link I gave you. BartPe is an alternate why to build multi-purpose bootable rescue CDs'. The program is available at: http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/.

I get no errors and it does create a floppy bootable disk. If I have to go through add a BartPE plugin this product is not worth it. I am thinking about going with GHOST theat comes with a bootable CD.

When I purchase a porduct I expect it to work, not have to repair design faults. I think Acronis is trying to help me.

Do you have a CD burner in your PCo_O At the time you are creating the rescue media do you have a NEW BLANK CD-R disk in your CD burnero_O I have created bootable CDs with every version and build I have owned of TI, 8 and 9, and never had a problem. Are you selecting your CD burner as the device you want to use to created the BOOT CDo_O Sounds like you either don't have a CD burner or you did not place a blank CD in the drive BEFORE you started the media builder or you are NOT selecting the correct drive.
