I have to use this in order to use True Image 9 and Disk Director 10 Suite

When using the Secure Zone, and hitting F-11 there is no safe mode option, therefore I can not use the snap restore function :(

Does anyone know exactly what this command does, so I can try to make my machine work with the full versions of the programs.

    Hello pjiv,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

Here is the brief description of these Linux kernel parameters.

quiet - This parameter is enabled by default and the startup messages are not displayed. Deleting it will result in the startup messages being displayed as the Linux kernel is loaded and the command shell being offered prior to running the very Acronis program.

acpi=off - Disables ACPI which may help with a particular hardware configuration.

noapic - Disables APIC (Advanced Programmable Interrupt Controller) which may help with a particular hardware configuration.

Please be aware that you are able to restore your hard drive/partition using Snap Restore even if you boot Acronis Startup Recovery Manager.
Could you please clarify why you cannot use it? Please describe your issue in more details. We will do our best to answer all your questions.

    Thank you.

Since the acpi=off noapic is not an option when I hit F-11 it boots to a black screen.

I can only run safe mode stuff on my machine.

    Hello pjiv,

Could you please provide us with the more detailed information on the problem?

    - What exact build numbers of Acronis True Image 9.0 and Acronis Disk Director Suite 10.0 do you use?

You can find the full version name and build number by going to Help -> About menu in the main program window.

    - Are you able to boot into Full version of Bootable Rescue CD using "acpi=off noapic" parameter?

    - What exactly do you mean when saying that "when using the Secure Zone, and hitting F-11 there is no safe mode option"?

    - What exactly do you mean when saying that "acpi=off noapic is not an option"?

    - When exactly a black screen appears?

    - Have you received any error messages? What exact error messages? When exactly have you received them?

    - Describe actions taken before the problem appears step-by-step.

    Thank you.

    - What exact build numbers of Acronis True Image 9.0 and Acronis Disk Director Suite 10.0 do you use?

    True Image = 2337 ; Disk Director = 2089

    - Are you able to boot into Full version of Bootable Rescue CD using "acpi=off noapic" parameter?

NO! I have to use the special download version that has these commands in them

    - What exactly do you mean when saying that "when using the Secure Zone, and hitting F-11 there is no safe mode option"?

When I hit F-11 it loads the Acronis True Image program, but only has the FULL version (which I can not run) and Boot into Windows choices, no safe mode version.

    - What exactly do you mean when saying that "acpi=off noapic is not an option"?

    I can't type it in!

    - When exactly a black screen appears?

When I get to the selection screen for what I want to do, I choose run the full version (recommended) and it starts to load, then I get a black screen and thats it. Nothing happens from there.

    - Have you received any error messages? What exact error messages? When exactly have you received them?

    Nope!

    Thanks!

You have to hit F11 on the screen with the choice for Windows or True Image. This should pop up a screen with a text field with the word "quiet" in it. You change it to read "quiet acpi=off noapic", hit OK, then select Full Mode.

Well what do you know! F-11 works in the latest build. I can now actually see the quiet word. I don't know what the problem was with the previous builds but it DOES work now! I have still yet to test it with the secure zone - snap restore. That will have to wait till the weekend.
