Best Paid Firewall?

First of. Outpost passes the reefer test while za doesnt. That link is about 2 yrs old and has no relevance with the latest version of zonealarm.. actually you will find that the latest za passes more tests on that link than outpost...

I don't know for Outpost vs Za, but the link is even worse for kerio, the link is still showing it as the weakest FW ever : things have really changed since, it does block almost every tests, except DNStester and two tests included in AWFT! (does get 6/10)

ZA Pro also blocks referers (as does Kerio, refcontrol in firefox, etc). This doesn't make you 'invisible', it blocks handing over your page requesting access to the server you are on in the browser header. You may want to read about it at grc.com (test your browser there under 'browser headers' at Shields Up or go to pcflank.com and click on 'browser test'). Your IP is stll obtained by the server as well as browser type.

Edit: BTW, I was a little surprised that the title over the graphic on the URL you gave listed it as ZoneAlarm Pro screenshots.

Regardless of what site did what and when , the deal is this . OP passes all with the right config . Might do so out of the box now but , I am not sure . OP is very secure and does everything it is supposed to do extremely well . ZAP has many features but , those featues have yet to be solidified , save few . This version of ZAP STILL needs work . That has ALWAYS been their theme . I think they try to cover it a bit better now by offering much more features than in the past . Please note that all software firewalls have an issue here or there but , ZAP never seems to get better . If you like it , use it . There are much better firewalls available however . That said , Tiny is , BAR NONE , the best software firewall you can buy . At this time anyway .

 

that's an old issue discussed by ZA and the media quite a while ago. i'm pretty sure they don't do it anymore but who knows? with a history like that, i find it dangerous either way i don't use ZA anymore due to several problems they had with a lot of basic stuff on my previous computer

Yep i agree 100 % i mean ur nvr really sure and i had unsitalled Za pro back in jan 7 and about 3 days ago i had found the vsmond engine still in my pc so u can nvr be really sure. I mean even NAV unsitalled all of its components completely.

 

would still recomend outpost even though its still not preventing memory injection but i guess at least it will let me know im being hacked if not stop it lol unlike kerio za mcafee and sygate which sit thier silently like nothing has happend

 

The best paid firewall? Not really sure, I've heard it's Outpost. I agree with other posters here though I wouldn't touch that ZA spitware with a ten foot pole- It's pure spyware crap. I do think NetVeda is a great free firewall though.

 

its got to be outpost really thier is no other choice unless you want to be infected by 2-3year old trojans using memory injection well with outpost your still get infected but atleast you will know lol

outpost pro detected svchost modifying the memory space of explorer.exe
explorer.exe network access prevented <<<< thats the kind of message you get with outpost even though its telling lies nothing was prevented "your doomed" , with za, mcafee, kerio, sygate you get no warning ! unless its dll injection lol. process guard detects memory injection like outpost but also fails to prevent reverse connections using this method

 

umm, let me see! the best firewall? well ive heard recently that outpost is a bunch of crap! so it looks like the latest version of zonealarm wins hands down .... Then again, i guesse some people might not agree with me, but because im saying that zonealarm is the best firewall it must be!

 

Well considering that Outpost has a serious flaw since version 2.7 that allows packets through during bootup & shutdown U can hardly say it is the most secure firewall till Agnitum fix that flaw.

At the mo im using ZA Pro till Outpost gets fixed.

 

well zone alarm lets 2 year old well known widely available trojans threw all its defences and gives no warning making it to me not much better than useless

Well, problem with OutPost is that it's too strict about injecting codes into other processes. I could find a way for StrokeIt to be allowed unrestricted access. It was definitely more inconvenient than the spyware I wasn't getting.

 

Ive nvr heard of this flaw and the latest version is vs 3. something well i dont know but dont knock it till u try it. And the trial versions are nothing like the real thing i tried both za and outpost and outpost is much better. but there is one thing i dont like they seem to only alow access of quick tune to ie wen they should allow firefox o use it as well but meh its still fells safer.

 

I believe the flaw still exists in current versions, although the period of time when your computer is unprotected is VERY small from what i've heard.

Sure they are. The trial versions ARE the real thing, just time limited. Now, the FREE versions are nothing like what the retail version are, but that's something different.
