I just split my C drive into 2 partition.
Newly created drive was named F drive automatically,
since my two dvd drives are D, E respectively.

How do I change the letter of my newly created F drive?
    (like into D drive)
I know I first have to rename my DVD drives into some other letters...

Is there a utility w/in DiskDirector suite?

    I got winXP sp2
    DiskDirector suite full ver.

    thanks

See section 4.2.1 in the User's Guide.

You can find it here if you don't already have it handy: http://us1.download.acronis.com/pdf/DiskDirectorSuite10.0_ug.en.pdf

Also, Win XP has this capability. Right click on My Computer, left-click "Manage", and then select "Disk Management" in the Computer Management console that pops up. Then, right-click any displayed partition and select "Change Drive Letter and Paths".

    Thanks for reply.

Yes, I know this, but both functions mentioned above
only lets me change drive letter of "partitions".
Cause both utilities only display partitions and therefore that's
all you can select to change drive letters.

I need to change drive letters of my dvd drives so they
don't conflict w/ the name of partitions. How do I do that?

My bad, I see how to change drive letters from Mangmt. console.

After that, do I have to re-install my software that refers to my
dvd drives? like burning softwares...or it is automatically updated?

It won't automatically "update" as you ask. I know that Partition Magic will do this with it's drive mapper function -- I've used it many times in the past. There are no doubt some more programs out there that can do this mapping chore. But, I think you'll find that burning software will have little problem with it as I have done this many times and Nero has no problem with it -- I believe Nero is looking for the hardware and doesn't care what the drive letter is. However, I guess it's conceivable that less robust programs could have a problem with it.

If it were me, I'd go ahead and change the drive letter and then cope with the change on a case by case basis as is necessary, anticipating that it wouldn't be much of a problem with the software I run.

However, your mileage, of course may vary.;)
