    Windows XP SP2

I wanted to download the new version 3.5.1 from Major Geeks and I followed the instructions and killed v3.4. I then went ahead and downloaded the new version successfully, saving it to My Documents\My Downloads. When I tried to load it I got the following message.

    "C:\Documents and Settings\my name\My Documents\My Downloads\spywareblastersetup351.exe is not a valid Win32 application."

I can see there are teething problems and will wait till they're fixed but in the meantime I have no protection. How can I get version 3.4 back?

    Thanks in advance,

    - Ken.

    Hi,

Please try re-downloading the application from another mirror on the download page:
    http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/sbdownload.html

Also, please make sure that you've disabled any download managers or accelerators.

    Best regards,

Go back to CNet's site (www.download.com) and down load v3.4. Have a good day.

Thanks Javacool but I see too many problems here from others. I am going to wait until the bugs are sorted out. BTW, I don't have any download managers or accelerators.

Chuck, thanks for that. I didn't realize the last version would be at Download.com. Will run on over and grab a copy. I feel naked without my SpywareBlaster guarding my doors.

Okay, thanks again guys. I'm back with v3.4 for the meantime. Will keep an eye on here to see when it's sage to upgrade.

    Hi,

SpywareBlaster 3.5.1 has no known bugs.

The most common issues deal with
a.) A firewall blocking SpywareBlaster from accessing the Internet (so Check for Updates fails - easily fixed).
b.) Another program blocking SpywareBlaster from setting protection (for example, SpySweeper - again easily fixed).

    Best regards,

This one seems to be a total dud right now. Of the 3 "mirror" links on the Javacools download page, MajorGeeks is the only active link. And when you get htere, it all turns into a total tail chase from finding the desired download to "click here" to back to looking for the download file again. When you do finally get a download completed, it is from BulletProof Software (Spyware Remover) and NOT SpyWareBlaster!!! Somebody needs to get it together! The links and downloads just don't seem to work!

If you got another download, you are most likely clicking on an advertisement.

On the MajorGeeks page, click on the link marked "Alternative 5" (under "Download From:")

    Javacool,

I said earlier that I had no trouble downloading v3.5.1. But now I think of it, it took about one second to download. Later when I took v3.4 it took almost 10 minutes. I am on Dial-up by choice. My download of the non-functioning v3.5.1 came through Major Geeks\Element 5.

Javacool, SpywareBlaster is a magnificent program and I wouldn't be without it but with all due respect I can't help but feel there is some "bug" that is causing all the problems that are being reported here today. This does not take anything away from SpywareBlaster, it is just something that can happen to any program. My firewall is Zonealarm, the simple version without all that anti-spyware that so many have had problems with and I know it is not the problem, especially now I see the initial v3.5.1 download was corrupted. "Spywareblastersetup3.5.1 is not a valid win 32 application". It didn't even have the manufacturer's name, but my subsequent download of the earlier version did. Something is wrong. But I think everyone who has used your program will be more than happy to wait for it to be fixed.

    Kind regards,

    - Ken :)

    Hi,

There were some problems with the download mirrors earlier today, due to the incredible demand. However they should all be resolved.

If the setup file you download is around 2.44 MB, you're golden.

    Best regards,

    Re: spywareblastersetup351 tailchase

I removed the old Spyware Blaster last night knowing I would dl the new version today and have been experiencing the above mentioned tailchase at MajorGeeks. (download 5, then click Start on next page, then I land on www.majorgeeks.com -- with no dl).

I've tried the other two links to dl ...

ct7 gives me: "Forbidden You don't have permission to access /downloads/javacool/d3501/spywareblastersetup351.exe on this server."

and when I go to Coral Distribution, I get "this page cannot be displayed. The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings."

I guess it's back to the old version until I can successfully dl the new one...
