Boxed or Download?

Did you get NOD32 via the boxed version or by download?

The boxed version costs more... but some people like having a shelf full of boxes... I'm not one of those people though....

I think I know what the pricing is... the links you provided are NOT for boxed versions.

However, if you want the boxed version, buy from a reseller offering them - I would check for the EXPLICIT wording - boxed or shipped version - I don't see those at EITHER of the two sites you posted - we USED to have them, but are out of stock.... and LIST price is $49 for a boxed NOD32 - PLUS the shipping! If you can find it for less - then sure, it's a good deal - BUY IT!

I agree. The boxed version should be more costly because of the packaging and not buying it direct. Buying it straight from NOD's website with just a download should be less expensive, in my opinion.

With all that said, I may purchase the download to help NOD's financial situation and perhaps increase their product research

to get a price break, buy BEFORE 12/31/2005 - there is a $10 mail-in rebate. According to the release we got, this rebate is ONLY available through resellers - ie, not available for phone or nod32.com purchases.

On purchasing direct or not - I think they are better off with a reseller making the sale - because it's the reseller supporting the customer in the first place, and the reseller does so on a much smaller margin than Eset's share of the deal!

Consider this - if Eset didn't want to grow the reseller channel, why would they offer the mail-in rebate ONLY through resellers - ie, it's not applicable to direct purchases?

The December special rebate offer is a great deal, I just purchased a license and installed it on my main computer. After putting NOD32 on the family's older machine a few months ago, I grew to like it so much that I wanted it on mine too. I fear that I may be becoming a NOD fanatic now, and am in danger of changing my handle to Happy Grumble, GrumbleSpear, or perhaps (shudder) Sir Grumble!

 

Which version is it? The website doesn't say if it's the new 2.5.

 

My new installation today says:
NOD32 For Windows/NT/2000/XP/2003 Version 2.50.25

One of the many advantages NOD32 has is that a valid licence entitles you to both signature updates AND software updates for the period of the licence.
Whatever version you install, you can update to the most recent release with your first update download

 

I just purchased the boxed version. The fun will begin when I uninstall Norton Internet Security Hopefully all will go well and NIS will be history

As for me, as a reseller, I do a combination of 1) Download from Esets website, or more commonly...2) Install from my USB thumb drive, where I keep the installers for WinNT/Win9X/Enterprise Edition components/Exchange.

 

im not sure if this is the correct place to ask this but my question is this: If i download the trial version and set it up per blackspears instructions will i be able to activate it once my boxed version arrives or will i need to reinstall it?

 

You will really need to uninstall the trial version first and then install your full version, otherwise it will probably stop functioning after 30 days.
