New user, casual lurker, just purchased and installed Acronis True Image 9.0, then I applied the update after registering my product.

When I attempt to explore my drives in order to choose the image destination, I click on the "+" symbol, just left of "my computer" and I get the error message and program shutdown:

Then this follows immediately after clicking the "+" for browsing:

I need some ideas here. I have already tried an uninstall and reinstall. Same thing happens. Any help?

When you applied the update, did you uninstall the prior version. THe latest version update does not properly install over prior versions. Try un-installing TI9 and the reinstalling the latest version.

    Hello Wedge1,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

First of all, please make sure that you use the latest build (2323) of Acronis True Image 9.0 which is available at: http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/support/updates/

To get access to updates you should create an account at:
    http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/my/
then log in and use your serial number to register your software.

Please uninstall any previously installed build by following Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs -> Acronis True Image prior to installing build 2323.

Please also check each partition of your hard drive by Windows utility:

    - For Windows 9x please use Windows menu Start\Run
    then enter the command "scandskw" and test all drives;

    - For Windows XP please use Windows menu Start\Run, then enter the command
"chkdsk c: /r" "chkdsk d: /r" for every partition of your hard drive.

Note that you will need to reboot your computer in order to scan the system partition.

If the problem still persists after installing the update and checking the hard drive then please download the latest version of Acronis drivers, install it with disabled logging and see if the problem still persists.

If the problem still persists then enable logging by running the Acronis drivers installation package once again, reproduce the problem and collect the c:\snapapi.log file.

Please also create Acronis Report and Windows System Information as it is described in Acronis Help Post.

Please submit a request for technical support. Attach the collected files and information to your request along with the step-by-step description of the actions taken before the problem appears and the link to this thread. We will investigate the problem and try to provide you with the solution.

    Thank you.

    Hello Wedge1,

I've got a feeling that the Windows Repair Install clobbered one or more of your TI drivers or services. Uninstalling TI and then reinstalling (the latest version) may well do the trick.

    Regards

Guys, thank you very much. I am late in replying (by a week or more).

I will try the suggestions you have posted and then I'll report back.

I've had a similar problem (endless hourglass-not a crash) when performing the exact same step. I think I pinpointed my problem: running the display driver (ATI Radeon) at 1900X1200 . Everything works great when I bump it down to 1024X768. Confirmed on two different computers running at 1900X1200 (both w/ATI cards).
