hi peeps i have a netgear DG834G adsl wireless firewall router.
it hasthe firewall settings by default which block all indbound traffic but allow all outgoing.

im in a dilema now as im using windows firewall which does exactly the same as the router....can anyone suggest a program which can block outgoing traffic with my permission such as zone alarm.

Zone Alarm will be fine for that, as would Kerio and Sygate, although those two are in limbo at the moment. As you already have a hardware router/firewall, the software firewall is really a second stage protection to mop up the stuff that the hardware firewall misses.

Applications like Processguard have a different function, in that they control what is allowed to run on your system, what they can do and protect other running processes.

While some programs like this may have some control over programs accessing the network, application based firewalls deal with this specifically and may be the better choice depending on how much control you want over a programs network access. If you feel you need basic outbound control behind the router, the free ZA should work fine. If you want more than that, then you would need to consider a software firewall with rules capability.
