Yep, agreed guys, for $28 you can't beat it. It's what Kerio 4 should have been. Really cool firewall. Using it now and loving it.. :)

People are mentioning it takes just 5 Megs of ram, but i think it has several processes and the total memory is about 25-30 MB. Could someone please confirm that?

Actual fw component is 5mb, and with rest total comes to round about 11-15mb, still far better than other IDS based firewalls, best of all, system impact is minimal.

System impact is minimal, thats for sure! Anyway, thanks for clearing that up!

The firewall component like Arup stated, is 5 megs! Here is a break down of the serive/app(s) on Xp Pro Sp2:

    FireSvc.exe 4,680
    FrameworkService.exe 4,800
    UpdaterUI.exe 1,540
    naPrdMgr.exe 1,028
    TBMon.exe 1,792

I didn't realize you could buy individuals - makes it seem all the more an interesting proposition

Just as i had it when i tried McAfee Firewall. I personally just dont like the idea of multiple processes running. The firewall was pretty solid though! Currently im using KIS 2006 beta, and you sure cant beat an AV + Firewall for just about 10 MB! :D :D :D

  14. Interesting...

    can anyone tell me whether...

    > McAfee lets INDIVIDUALS purchase INDIVIDUAL licenses?

    > integrates with McAfee's VSE 8 ?

    > and what exactly are it's features?

you need to purchase a grant of 11 nodes and yes it does integrate

    Kalpik,

Kaspersky maybe a good AV but its firewall can't hold a candle against the McAfee or for that matter any other like ZAP or Outpost.

Hi Arup, you are grossly mistaken! Im talking about the new KIS 2006 beta, not Kaspersky Anti Hacker! The new KIS passes ALL the leak tests, has registry protection, the firewall is rule based, has application integrity control etc.. Plus it has one of the best AV in the industry!

The unmanaged desktop version only uses 3 services, firesvc.exe 6,528 KB, Firetray.exe 8,892 KB and TBmon.exe which I have disabled as I don't need to report any errors.
