DITTO -- I second precisely that. I use the "Agressive" setting in jv16 2005 PT's reg cleaner and backup every run, which I typically do after I've uninstalled software or done some partition shuffling -- I had a MINOR problem ONE time and restored without a hitch.

BEWARE of SYstem Mechanic 6 -- it deleted a slew of entries without showing them to me first and I couldn't get the dang undo function to work ! -- which I mistakenly assumed it would do first -- you have to go through ALL of the preferences and options and restrain this suite of tools to be halfway safe about it. I've seen others post that this is a problem particular to version 6 whereas version 5 (and perhaps earlier) are not so user aloof.

    Hi Hammer

RegSupreme is very safe to use, everyone has their favourite progs, mine is RS (well actually JV Powertools, same regcleaner) and i have used it for a very long time without issue's and always recommend it.

It does have backup, which ask you if you want it to do the backup when you click yes to "Fix" the entries found. Try it next time you uninstall one of the bigger programs like AV's or FW's.:)

I use Deep Freeze so after a reboot, it's right back where it was before. I keep RegSupreme Pro around and use it every now and then after installing new programs. Good program!

By Reg Heal, does hollywoodpc mean Registry Healer? I have just tried that and found that even in Easy Mode it messed up my cd/dvd writing, both in windows and in Sonic's 'Recordnow'. Registry Healer's redeeming virtue was that I was able to reverse the problem by restoring all that it had deleted. But I was unable to identify the particular registry entries the deletion of which had caused the problem, so Registry Healer has proved to be of no use to me.

Yes, but that would only be the registry cleaning part of cc, not the crap cleaning part of it, right?

I can see others having problems with CC's registry cleaner, I for one have been using CC and its registry cleaner without problems for months, I also use Reg Seeker, WinAso registry cleaner as well as Reg Vac.

I withdraw the above - my attribution of my problem with Recordnow to use of Registry Healer may well be incorrect. It was based on the apparent correction of the problem by restoring the entries deleted by Registry Healer. I now doubt the attribution because the problem with Recordnow subsequently returned, and because what appears to be the same problem with Recordnow later appeared on another pc on which Registry Healer had not been used.

I used to use System Mechanic 5. Then I bought version 6. Before long, immediately after using System Mechanic 6, I found that I could no longer start Windows - some files were missing - and I had to reload windows and rebuild the system. It looked like System Mechanic 6 had done the damage.
