What would your question be concerning dak's SpywareBlaster Custom Blocking List :doubt:

It is not a disapproved list if that is a concern.

No no, the problem is not with the list itself, but with the fact he is forcing people to use the CJB URL instead of the direct URL, even after being advised of CJB's affiliation with malware.

Hmm....the customblockinglist.cjb.net link is the one that has always been posted in our updates Forum.

First and foremost I am not doubting you concerning the malware at some of the cjb.net sub-domains given the fact the programmers of Spybot, IE-Spyad and even Spywareblaster have certain sub-domains listed. However....none of them have the whole cjb.net domain blocked. Even the well known Hosts file programmers only cover some of the sub-domains but not all and for sure not the whole cjb.net domain :doubt:

We will have to agree to dis-agree in respects to being forced to use anything. If you or any other users have heartburns because of cjb.net by all means do not use dak's list. I personally do not use dak's list but it has nothing to do with cjb.net.

I also have taken the liberty to move this discussion to a more appropriate forum given the fact the list can be exported into programs other than Spywareblaster. Doing this will afford everyone that might not visit the Spywareblaster Forum the opportunity to discuss your concerns in regards to cjb.net.

I have also modified the title somewhat to try and help with your concern.

    Regards,
    Bubba

But thats just it, he is forcing people to use the CJB link ... irrespective of whether or not the visitor is using his list.

The following screenshot shows what you will see if you use the direct atspace.com address:

    http://mysteryfcm.plus.com/misc/imgCBL_CJB.gif

The following shows the page loading just fine and dandy when the CJB address is used:

    http://mysteryfcm.plus.com/misc/imgCBL_CJB1.gif

This means you don't even have the choice of viewing his site before deciding whether to use the list or not.

.. thanks for moving this thread btw (wasn't sure where to post it).

I am very aware of what you are saying but since you brought up atspace.com....you do realize there are many users that will not see what you are attempting to show in your first gif if they are using IE and IE-Spyad since the atspace.com domain is contained in it's database. That means they see a blank screen when they visit your first link due to the restriction of the code found on that page.

I suppose I have unintentionally made a right turn when you made a left. Point being....do we discuss with users of the atspace.com domain link that they might want to reconsider that link or do we only discuss the cjb.net link ?

It seems both links should be of concern given that info ?

    Sorry for the delay.

I didn't realise atspace.com had itself listed in IE-Spyad (I don't use that one myself). With this I'd have to say yes, both should be of concern.

    Mystery,

Several days ago on Alt.Comp.Freeware, Steven Burn from
    www.it-mate.co.uk/
posted a reply to Dak re. this 'cjb' and copped a very quick and nasty retort
    from Dak.
Steven replied with half a dozen pointer www's apparently showing 'cjb' to be nothing more than .....
After the nasty reply Steven sent a Email to Javacool to let them know but now I note Bubba is unsure whether or not Javacool has given all of 'cjb' the big A.
Maybe time will tell, it usually has a habit of doing so.

    Regards.

I believe the pointer www's you refer to are in the Google link contained above in MysteryFCM's first post ?

That is info I would never be privy to unless the info was contained in Spywareblasters database. One thing I am sure of is that certain cjb.net sub-domains are contained in Spywareblasters database. Another thing I am sure of is that atspace.com and cjb.net are web hosters and unfortunately web hosters such as this have some good, bad and ugly sub-domains. We as users depend on the community, researchers and programers such as javacool, HPguru, E. Howe's....etc in keeping us abreast of the bad domains and their respective subs.

did not get the chance to read the earlier.

    Kind Regards.

Steven Burn would be me .... :) (changed my nick from "Ur I.T. Mate Group" as I didn't feel it was right to use that one.... so one of the mod's kindly changed it to the nick I use on most other forums).

    My pleasure :)

I was actually hoping to have had an update of IDS released before the end of this year (main update is secure deletion of the files) but unfortunately, other commitments have meant I've had to put it on hold till next year ...
