    Hi All

I just tried to install NOD32 and found I have no username password to enter, Is this data needed in the trial version or is there a demo info to enter.

On the first attempt to install all seemed to go well till I launched Thunderbird. NO MAIL in or out.

Found the "extra settings" thread, went through the steps following the install no change.

Unistalled and am getting ready to try again.

Any thing I need to do special for Thunderbird?

    Thanks.

There shouldn't be any username/password requirements for the trial version.
I'm not sure if IMON is working with Thinderbird, but I can't see why it shouldn't.

    Try a search :)

Are you sure you did not accidentally download the licensed, commercial version, instead of the trial version? Make sure you got it from http://www.eset.com/download/trial.htm .

I use Thunderbird, and I did not have to do anything special.

    Well here goes.

    1. Install went OK.
    2. Followed the setup in the sticky.
    3. ThunderBird NOGO.
    a. On TBird startup CPU goes to 100% and stays there TB will not connect
    or timeout on the connection.
    b. Switch to offline and CPU drops to 0-1%.
    c. Switch to online and all stays normal (CPU 0-1%).
    d. Mail goes out and back in. NOD32 notice is appended on incomming not
    outgoing. (normal?)
    4. I know this is a work around and may be due to my using TB v1.5rc.

So I'll give them a shout and see what they have to say.
Thanks for the info. I still plan to monitor should a more permenant solution arise.

This part is normal, yes. IMON only scans HTTP and POP3 traffic. POP3 is used when receiving e-mail. Sending e-mail uses SMTP, which is not scanned by IMON.

he can't accidentally download the licensed commercial version because it requires a valid username and password to download...

Just went another round with this.

Last evening and this morning all was going well. I performed a drive 0 image backup TI 9.0 2303 and a partition backup on my data.

TB quit downloading messages. Performed the winstock fix ( with program then manual) noticed changes but no affect on TB.

Uninstalled TB reinstalled TB - NoGo.
Uninstalled TB ran CClean then RFA. Reinstalled TB all seems to work so far.

I intend to do several boots next to verify stability.

I've got windows XP SP2, Thunderbird 1.5 Final, NOD32 latest version, and lots of timeouts. It will connect to my mail server sometimes and timeout on downloading the messages (1 or 2 out of 13 get through) or sometimes timeout on connecting. So I tried adding thunderbird.exe to the exceptions in IMON. That didn't work. So I rebooted with the exception in place. Now thunderbird downloaded all the messages fine, no timeouts. So I took the exception out and rebooted. Back to timeout issues. These timeouts happen regardless of whether I actually have mail. I changed thunderbird's timeout to 120 seconds from 60 seconds and that didn't seem to help at all. I really don't want to have to add an exception, any ideas?

Although it should not normally be necessary, in IMON --> Setup --> POP3 tab --> Setup, Read the information and have a go at that if you like - it may be helpful.
