    I have been booting up into XP, launching Acronis (latest build 937), and doing the Image Restore. I am restoring the C: drive so I walk through the screens and it sees my external USB hard drive just fine that contains my image (actually broken into three <650mb images), and I select the first image of the three. All goes well as it prompts me to reboot for restore. I walk through the restore screens again when the Acronis loader launches on reboot but it no longer see's the USB hard drive in the loader and thus cant select the image for restore. Any ideas o_O Funny thing is thus has worked flawless for me on the same computer and same external USB drive before.

    Thanks in advance ...

    The problem is that when you rebooted Acronis uses it's Linux mode which has many problems with certain drivers for external hard drives. Your solution to restore will be to use the Bart's plugin for true image that acronis offers to Registered users of version 8.0 so this should not be a problem for you. Good luck.... Been their and done that.

    Hello twvette,

    Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

    I would recommend you to try the "acpi=off noapic" workaround as it is described in Acronis Help Post.

    If that does not help then please also check whether your external hard drive is connected to the PC through a hub. If yes, then please connect it directly.

    If the problem still persists then please create Linux system information (sysinfo.txt) as it is described in Acronis Help Post.

    If you will not be able to create a sysinfo.txt file for some reasons then please boot from the Acronis True Image 9.0 rescue disc once more and press F11 key when the selection screen appears.

    After you get the "Linux Kernel Settings" prompt, please remove the "quiet" word, click on the OK button. As the startup messages stop scrolling please write down the last few lines of the output, or use a digital camera to make shots of the output screens.

    Please also create Acronis Report in the way described below:

    - Download and run Acronis Report Utility;

    - Select the "Create Bootable Floppy" option;

    - Insert a blank floppy disk in the A: drive and proceed with creation of the bootable floppy;

    - Boot the computer from this diskette and wait for report creation process to finish;

    - Collect the report file from the floppy.

    Please keep your external USB hard drive connected while creating Acronis Report and Linux system information.

    Submit a request for technical support. Attach all the collected files and information to your request along with the step-by-step description of the actions taken before the problem appears and the link to this thread. We will investigate the problem and try to provide you with the solution.

    Thank you.

    An upgrade to 9.0 build 2323 solved the problem after attempting other stuff and working with Acronis support. I was not using a hub for the USB drive sothat was not a factor.
