Complete Uninstall

How do you completely uninstall TI 8 Ent Server?

I have a invalid script file that keeps coming back and causing errors and I want to COMPLETEY (All files and registry entries) uninstall and reinstall. When using the regular add/remove programs uninstall, items are left so that if you reinstall all your old jobs, logs, schedules, etc come back.

Uninstalling from Win 2003 OS.

I'll take a stab at this .... after you do the Add/Remove procedure, manually use Windows Explorer to delete left over files - makes it easier if you know in which folder the program was installed. Next use a Registry cleaner to clean out un-needed registry entries. A good free one is RegSeeker, another is CCleaner. Do a google search for them.

I've tried that and they still comes back.

 

Then as a last resort you will have to search manually through the Registry for anything named Acronis and delete it ... be very careful though, as one wrong move may render your system unbootable.

 

I've done that too and it still doesn't clean everything up.

But... at least I think I have found a way to get rid of my old script coming back problem. Acronis stores its scripts/logs/db support/notify info in a directory called Acronis under \Documents and Settings\All Users\, away from the program files install location. This directory does not get deleted when you uninstall the program. So at the reinstall it pulls all that info back in. Deleting that directory seem to have gotten rid of the script and all old logs.

It's still not a complete uninstall, fore it doesn't ask me to re-input my serial # when I reinstall, so its pulling it from somewhere hidden in the registry.

 

In that case, use the Start/Search feature to find anything Acronis and also anything True Image. In fact the same two items should also be searched in the Registry.

I used these directions in the uninstallation of v. 8 and v. 9. They seemed to fit v. 8 a little better. I didn't find all the various entries when uninstalling v. 9. Also be aware that when I was finished, I did a registry search on Acronis and found about 20 or so entries. There were about 5 reg entries for Trueimage.
At any rate it worked out OK.

 

Not to take away from anything you said Bill U but I wanted to point out that you can often find entries for a given program simply as search strings or for other types of Most Recently Used (MRU) lists in the registry. These instances would bear no relevance to the problems discussed above. (I don't mean that NONE of the 25 entries Bill U found aren't relevant -- I'd have no way of knowing that from where I sit).

 

..... and I'm certainly no expert in regedit. I did happily and naively delete a number of references to trueimage and Acronis. I run Reg Mechanic regularly but I'm constantly struck by how much gets left behind with most application uninstalls. I have no solid reason to believe that any of the references I deleted were causing problems. I just felt relatively safe deleting them.

 

Actually the part I forgot to add above is this. I mentioned the difference between v. 8 and v. 9 because I thought I may have a faulty install of v. 9 which contributed to the problems I had.

 

I'm totally with you, Bill. I use a registry manager called Registrar Registry Manager that rounds up all of the ocurrences of a search string on one screen so that I get a little better overview of all of them. I totally agree with your approach in any event.
