Can't assign Drive letter C to restored disk

While restoring my C drive from a firewire drive, the program assigned the firewire drive the letter C, and so I can't assign my boot drive letter C.
What can I do?

Youd didn't mention what operating system you use.

On the XP, follow the path Start => Control Panel => Administrative Tools => Computer management => Disk Management

If you can do this, you should end up looking at a display of all drives and partitions on your computer. Here you can reassign the drive letters to what you want.

Please be aware that Acronis True Image Bootable Rescue Media is Linux based and can display drive letters different from those the user sees in Windows, because Linux has its own rules of drive naming. Such a situation usually may arise after using partitioning software. This is absolutely normal and there is no need to worry about the difference in drive letters assignment. In other words, when you will boot into Windows your drive letters will be as usual.

If that's not the case then please provide me with the more detailed information on the problem:

- What exact version and build number of Acronis True Image you use?

- Whether you trying to restore your image when booted from Bootable Rescue CD?

- Are you able to boot into the restored operating system?

- What operating system you use?

- Describe actions taken before the problem appears step-by-step.
