Although not all external USB drives are created equal.

    Hello late,

Although a little long in the tooth, this previous thread titled <External USB/Firewire drives that work > provides a numbers of examples of what works and what doesn't, along with some pointers on what to look out for.

    Regards

I've been using TI9 with an external Western Digital WD2500BB USB drive and it works fine apart from one HUGE snag: The USB drive has a power on/off switch, and by default the power is off, so if you start TI9 when the USB drive is not ready, it will craxh.

Make sure that the USB drive is ready first, and it works well. I wrote some code to check whether the USB drive was ready, and if not to sound the system beeper in an annoying way until the drive was ready. Unfortunately, the current release of TI9 calls my code too late, and I am really hoping that they will fix this in the next release. I have several times emailed Acronis about this.

(BTW, forget it on older machines which don't do USB 2.0)
