Apologies if this has already been asked, ran a few searches but nothing came up.

I've just bought a new machine, one of the Medion 8800s from Aldi. It has a 250gb S-ATA drive and when I boot off the recovery CD True Image doesn't detect the drive.

Are there any fixes to allow the drive to be recognised in recovery mode?

    Cheers

I did a full Image of this machine with TruImage 8.0 Build 973 without any Problems. Internal Drive --> manuell Image --> USB HD in the external Bay.

I can take an image no problems, TI sees it okay in Windows. Have you tried booting into recovery mode yet, because that is when it doesn't see the disk. Select 'Restore Image' and all you get is an error 'No drives have been detected'.

I did the Image from within the rescue cd.

I didn´t want to run into any trouble installing TI so I did the first Imge this way ;-)

Maybe you use a different version?

Mine was TI 8.0 Build 937

Thanks. I'm on TI v8 but not sure which build. I'll look for an upgrade tonight.

btw - when you boot off the recovery CD do you get a couple of messages about USB ports not initialising? It doesn't appear to effect the mouse or keyboard so I wonder if they are the ports on the front.

Do you just have a standard installation or have you done any extra tweaking?

The only thing I got was a message like "disabling s-at port xx" (I only got the factory build in hard disk and this device was detected). I upgraded from XP Home to XP professional via the normal "Update windows" path with an XP prof cd but TI should have taken no notice of this as it was booting from the recovery cd. No "Unknown usb port" or anything like this.
