No matter what they say, obviously KAV detects more viruses in real life.

This is questionable, no AV detects 100% of all viruses. Just as an example, I could post here more than 100 screenshots from online scanners where NOD32 detected a virus missed by KAV. However, I'd rather you refer to unbiased comparative tests performed by www.av-comparatives.org.

TradeDoubler chose Eset NOD32 Antivirus System

After thoroughly analyzing several antivirus solutions from different vendors, TradeDoubler chose Eset NOD32 Antivirus System Enterprise Edition. The feedback from their staff has been overwhelming. TradeDoubler is so pleased with our solution that they have extended the license period to three years instead of the one year license period they recently settled for.

TradeDoubler chose NOD32 Antivirus Solution from Eset for its optimal antivirus protection and for its extremely small footprint (NOD32 needs much less system resources than other antivirus solutions). NOD32 is the record holder of the Virus Bulletin 100% Award, meaning that it is the only antivirus solution that has never missed an in-the-wild-virus in the Virus Bulletin tests. NOD32 has also been tested several times to have the best proactive detection (by heuristic analysis), which means that it will detect many more unknown viruses than other antivirus brands, without causing false positives (incorrect warnings) or having a too high impact on system performance.

TradeDoubler is a European provider of online marketing and sales solutions. Industry leaders all over Europe have partnered with TradeDoubler to work with performance-based marketing and to manage online relationships in order to increase sales and improve online business. TradeDoubler can offer a broad range of solutions from technically advanced and hosted management tools, to efficiently administered products within performance-based marketing.

I am interested in getting NOD32.

If I were to buy it now, would I get a free upgrade to NOD32 version 3 when it releases, or will I need to pay extra $$?

Of course, it will be for free for current subscribers.

What's more, the subscribers will be able to get NOD32 for mobile devices (PDA) when it's ready for free as well.

    Marcos,

It sometimes seems to me that Eset is sleeping on the laurels.

Yes, it is true about Virus bulletin, but reality is that this spring I had chance to clean at least 5 viruses after night shift guys :D. And I was comparing NOD with KAV and I didn't see that KAV would miss anything NOD could detect, but opposite was unfortunately true. Yes, those were in-the-wild-viruses, but anyway...
Of course, KAV was unusable in realtime due to that huge "fingerprint", and I know about those mistakes in their engine, and about MagicByte vulnerability, which was not a problem for NOD.

But maybe you do not know that at present, KAV6 uses at least 2 times less memory than NOD32 v2.5 in identical conditions.

Probably you also do not know that it's user interface simply blows away NOD. To mention, they have delayed clean(which was present in NOD2 but now is missing), detected threats can be directly added to exclusion list from right click menu, there is functional right click menu for systray icon, it CAN be unloaded or disabled! And that is of course not all.

Do you really think all this doesn't mean anything at all? As I tried to explain earlier, there are certain cases where NOD cannot be used due to those small things, and that is quite sad.

At least 90% of undetected 'malwares' by nod32 which kav marks them as malware; are Trash / Garbage. :D

And what about when computer didn't even boot because of that "Trash / Garbage" ?

    1. I said 90%, not 99.99%.

    2. Are you sure your problem was from a virus?!

Regarding detection capabilities, just one example for all. This is a new Mytob email worm being currently spread. I assume everyone can make their own conclusion regarding NOD32's detetection capabilities:

Well, should have said "didn't start" instead of "didn't boot", if it makes you feel better. That wasn't boot sector; as if you didn't know. Sorry, English is not my native language and I occasionally make mistakes.

But, if that is the only thing that deserves an answer, I am truly sorry that I started to waste my time, and yours.

So, and what? Who said NOD was not good?

Should we now sing the praises to NOD32?
And then, act as if what happened didn't actually happen, because NOD was that good?

Or, in any discussion you want to find an attack?

Would it be possible to send the file to support[at]eset.com (to Marcos) or support[at]nod32.ir (to me), with a link to this topic?

Meanwhile, here was 'version 3 date' topic? ohhh... :D

Well that would be very hard if you ESET guys don't say anything about NOD32 v3.0...
And i'm not saying about release dates but rather what can we expect (even better detection, new interface, new features etc).

can someone just close it anyway? If readers/contributors can't accept - "when it's ready" - and wait for the answer, I'd rather they worry about it in silence... the constant questions won't make it appear any sooner...

It should be closed. No sense in constantly asking when will it be ready.

The people are not asking when it will be ready, but what eset guys are working on... just that.. new interface, heuristics implementation, etc etc..

then it's off-topic for the thread... close this one and ask about features in a thread that is entitled - v3 features - what are they? or something similar...
