Well I just purchased the True Image 9.0 and Disk Director 10.0 combo and I went to backup my first "full image" of my main hard drive and my computer freezes and I have to hit the power button. Here is my setup:

Yes, I already downloaded the most recent updates of True Image 9.0. I am running XP with all the most recent updates. I tried to backup my main disk with its 3 partitions using the most basic automatic settings. The backup file target was located on my 300GB Seagate external HDD connected with Firewire.

It gets through the first 1 or 2 % of the backup but then my external drive shuts off and the system freezes. I have to hit the power button on my computer and pull the power plug on my external drive to get things working again.

My external drive is only 2 weeks old and has worked perfectly on every other occasion. I have perfomed 5GB+ regular file transfers to it with no problems.

    Please help!

    Thanks!

    -UPDATE-

I sent in a support request for this issue with both my system.nfo and the report file. It is issue #406381.

My Seagate external drive is dual interface so I tried it again with a USB2.0 connection and everything worked. I really would prefer to be using my firewire connection though. I found one message here that said using firewire with an ASUS P4C800 Deluxe motherboard didn't work. That is the board I have.

Tonight I will attempt to restore the bootable partition of my backup onto my second internal drive to see if I can use it as a second operating system. We'll see how that goes.

Anyone know what I can do to get firewire to work with TI?
