And a visit to ESET's home page http://www.eset.com/news/news.htm
shows no "news" later than 01NOV05. Come on, ESET, NOD32 is too
good a product for you to be so silent on the entire issue for so long.

There's nobody from Eset on line right now and hasn't been for a few hours that Iv'e seen. When they make an appearance I'm sure they will respond.

Well, I was actually thinking of ESET acknowledging the issue on their web site. As far as this thread, it is now about six days running.

Don't misunderstand, I really like ESET, and NOD... but these silences make
    me a bit uncomfortable.

    Best,

Did you see post #2 at the begining of this thread? It's an answer of sorts but not specific to this particular threat.

It appears that in post #2 of this thread and the one supplied by Elwood that it is already or will be added. Still a restatement or clarification from Eset would be nice. Still if anybody wants to know for sure try a Sony CD.;) :D

First4Internet, the company that wrote the software that Sony uses said they would supply all anti-virus companies with code that would enable them to detect it.

With the way they implemented this, I wouldn't trust anything they gave out.

Besides, it other AV's can take care of this, then ESET should also be able

Some leading antivirus companies updated their protective software this week to detect Sony's antipiracy program, disable it and prevent it from reinstalling.

Ah, back from work, finally. Yeah, I missed that thread, and Marcos' comments. The threads do tend to confuse and repeat, with that
thread being redirected back to this one.

That's one reason it would be nice to see some company stance at
ESET's web site; I'll choose to think that they're thinking their position and strategy out carefully. I have come to respect them considerably.

    Thanks for the pointer.

Do you know whether or not BOClean 4.12 is detecting Sony's rootkit?

Most AV companies is adding detection for Sony´s rootkit.
I long time ago,(03/2005) I asked here if NOD32 would detect rootkits and I´ve been told to wait, because I´d have a surprise.
Now I can see the surprise.
