The trick is to the last version of ATI Catalyst works on my Notebook (ATI Mobility Radeon 9000), but now the graphics are very slow and I've to try another one...

I'm sure the trick he meant was changing display acceleration level in Control Panel > Display > Settings > Advanced > Troubleshoot > Hardware acceleration.
Moving the slider one notch left (i.e. "Disable cursor and bitmap accelerations") fixes the display glitch in NOD. This has been known for long ago.
The problem with this trick is that it slows down graphics in all applications, including games.

I want to add that, while you're all blaming ATI and ESET, it might be as well Microsoft's problem, namely a bug in comctl32.dll.
My reasoning is that the glitch appeared in NOD32 2.5, at the same time XP style controls were enabled.
I tried enabling XP styles in NOD long before version 2.5 was released, by using .manifest file that tells windows to enable new style (version 6) controls. The same display glitch appeared then.

    Try a little test:
    1) make a backup of nod32kui.exe
    2) quit NOD32 Control Center
    3) open nod32kui.exe in any resource editor (I used ResHacker)
    4) delete resource "24"
    5) save
    6) start NOD32 Control Center again

As you can see, there will be no display glitch, but all buttons will be without XP styles.
Btw, disabling XP themes completely (e.g., selecting "Windows Classic" theme) has no effect, so it seems dependent on which version of comctl32.dll is loaded.

So, you can try to contact Microsoft if they are not too busy building Vista with their own antivirus ;)

Interesting information on the comctl32.dll - thanks for that...

On contacting M$ and them rebadging Sybari/building their own AV solution... yeah right... if they release AV solutions with the same urgency that they patch their OS bugs, it'll be like owning Norton 2003 when the year is 2005 within a year of installation... ! ;)

Perhaps the common control components can be restored to the ones from XP SP1 or something....Or does the bug exist in SP1 too?:doubt:

You guys all have a better technical underatanding than I. If it's a microsoft problem, why are only certain card manufacturers affected. Indeed not all cards in a certain manufacturers lineup are affected. Some ATi cards for instance are affected while others are not.o_O

We're up to 5.10 on the Ati drivers if anyone wants to give it a try. I've upgraded too many times already.:(

    9600xt 32bit works. 9200 16bit ok, 32bit no.
I just set the hardware acceleration to one step below max and it works ok with 32bit on the 9200.

Again, it works fine on the 9600XT because the 9600 series are DX9 cards.....The 9200 and below are DX8 graphics cards...And the problem only occurs on DX8 ATI cards.

X850 XT has no problems either and neither did my old 9800 pro or the 9700 pro.

    Strange one.

Try switching to a different color mode as suggested above.

above mentioned suggestion certainly isn't a solution
    merely a diagnosis o_O

yes, it does work in 16 bit mode and does not ( as it should ) in 32 bit mode

NOD32 is the only software i have installed in the last few years
    having this problem

    Hi Marcos,

Switching from 32 bits to 16 bits ain't a solution in my case because then I have a lot more problems with my system and other software.

Are you gonna solved this issue soon? It's been months that we are patiently waiting for a "real" solution to this problem...

    Best regard,
    Atomas31

It's been said numerous times here - it's not a problem of NOD32. The problem started occuring only with ATI srivers after we implemented support for Windows XP styles. If NOD32 was the culprit, even owners of different VGA cards would be affected !

Yes it's a confirmed ATI Catalyst problem. Update to latest Catalyst 5.10a or upcomin november release of Catalyst 5.11 drivers to solve this issue...

    catalyst 5.11

    it works !

    true

but i have only my experience to make a judgement.
and with literally hundreds of different programs, mostly half baked beta
and freeware, defiling through this machine i never saw this problem.
    not once.

    anyway, they finally solved it

thanks for your patience with us
