Which AV are you using right now?

Currently trialing Bitdefender Internet Security v 9 and looks cool the firewall has improved a lot since the v 8 days but still a lot needs to be done about its certain risky thingies...Top notch AV though.

I went from Norton to AVG, then switched to McAfee, then PC-cillin, then eScan and finally NOD32, which I use now

 

that was my first impression of NOD32 too.. amazed at how slow Norton has MADE our machines... I completely fail to see how their market share is so massive, with software that is so bloated...

 

AV Junky

 

When my subscription ran out on avast I thought I would try KAV or NOD and see which one I liked best. NOD won and if Eset keeps working on the program the way they are, then I`ll be a very happy camper.

 

I started with Norton which was great at detecting viruses, but gave me problems with Outlook. I liked Kaspersky a lot but it was conflicting with another program. I have been running NOD32 for 3 months and I'm only sorry I haven't bought it earlier!

 

Given that only smart, knowledgable people find their way to this forum, the fact that NOD 32 and Kapersky top the poll comes as no surprise (I'm a NOD user).

Clearly, that 'Other' program is pretty good too!

 

Using Nod32 right now. I'll probably uninstall it tonight and put kav back in. I think I will run kav as resident..and may possibly run Nod32 as on demand. I'm licenced for both products..as well as mcafee virusscan 9.0

Mcafee is buggy on my system. Kav runs lightest of the 3.

 

F-secure runs lighter of the three on my computers

I really like Kav 5.0.390 also

I got my first own desktop about six years ago, where was a Norton preinstalled. After the Norton licence expired, I switched to PC-cillin 2000, which I got free because of my employer. I used that only about a half a year because of some infections and I bought McAfee VirusScan 6.02. After that I switched to DrWeb 4.27 and I became familiar to Wilders Forum. This was actually the moment when my journey to learn English started again.

In Wilders I heard plenty of good reviews about RAV, especially from Technodrome and I bought a license to that too. RAV was actually my all time favourite, the best compromise ever of detection of all kind of nasties, unpacking, speed, lightness, large database etc and my hunger grew even more. It was time to get used with other kind of av:s. I heard a very strange multiengine av, AntiVirenToolKit Pro 11 (AVK Pro) and I found that eXtendia AVK Pro used the same engines (KAV + RAV) and it was available in English plus it costs next to nothing. It was very efective untill M$ spoiled everything. I wanted to throw the whole PC to the closest river just nearby my window.

I found then the free offer of Panda Platinum 7 and used that too with no difficults ever but then I realized what a resource hog it actually was. Then I found a former life again. It was Blackcat who told very good reviews about McAfee VSE 8.0i. I was lucky to get that proggie too after my new employer. After all it was VERY GOOD compromise too, but to check every engines available plus patches, it was too hard to me.

If we want to find a joy of life, then we can see that there are always small things which can make us happy. Then I covered the wheel again. I renewed my DrWeb license after a short pause because of that cute spider next to the right below of the screen.

I was very near to change the proggie again, but I was lucky when the new 4.33 engine made it's newcoming, absolute the first class lightness, heuristics and unpacking with the second best update frequencies, what more I can want anymore?

Have you seen so nice photos nearby the place you are living it? It's Hämeenlinna (Tavastehus in Swedish), where my forefather was a commandant before the 1600's and the castle is about 650 years old.

Btw, the helmet is the symbol of the local IceHockey team which is in the lead just now in the Finnish IceHockey League. Remember, we Finns were the smallest country that was in the final in the Ice Hockey Word Cup in Canada but unfortunately we lose that game (If the game could be in Hämeenlinna, nobody knows how the result had been, especially when we have in the local ice stadium the famous "wild boar" auditorium ready to blow out every visitor.
