Hi guys, need some help...maybe you know why this is happening to me. I open the control panel and doble click the "add & remove programs" option and it does nothing. I had previously some problems with the smitfraud virus. Any ways to fix this?

    Thx in advance, Rob

    Hey Rob....Welcome to Wilders,

What operating system are we dealing with ?

Also....if you go to Start button\Run and type in appwiz.cpl and select Ok....what happens if anything ?

Hi! My operating system is Windows XP (updated with Windows Update).
I tried "appwiz.cpl" but nothing happens. I've noticed that the file exists under windows\system32\ Tried using one from my brothers PC, and still not working :|
    Thx

Concerning the Smitfraud virus you mentioned above. How did you go about attempting to remove it ?

My first suggestion would be to follow the comprehensive steps found in General Cleaning.

If these steps do not resolve your situation, you will need to download and run “Hijack This” found here and post your log at one of the HijackThis Specialist Forums, the two bigger forums for HijackThis log processing, (meaning they process more log threads each day than most others) are: SpywareInfo.com and CastleCops.com. Be sure to read their posting policy in the links at their log review forum sections prior to posting.

We actually think the problem with "smitfraud" is gone. Adaware and AVG doesnt detect anything.
