    Hello All,

My question is why does the eset.com or nod32.com website show - the Current Virus Database Version: v.1.1261 (20051019)

    But Nod32usa.com shows - v.1.1263 (20051021)??

And the PCs on my lan have 1.1263 also.

My reason for asking is that I have a webpage that I use to show the status of various servers and services. i can monitor whether or not the PCs on the LAN have the most current update or not, then alerting me If they are not updated. When I used Symantec Corporate I would get the current state of definition files from http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/download.html, then extract the version for use on the webpage. If I were to do the same with http://www.eset.com/support/support.htm , it would always show that I have the current update, even though I have newer updates on my LAN. In other words, the information on eset's website is not really current. Is there another location for more current info for virus definition files. BTW, nod32usa.com ALWAYS seems to have the current info on their website, but if I use wget to download the page it gives me a 403 forbidden error - some defense mechanisn I suppose (at that point I also subsequently get a 403 with a browser.)

    TIA, Gerry

of the "official" sites, nod32.ch usually shows the updates first... nod32.com is often behind, so I wouldn't monitor that page if I was you...

nod32usa.com is our site - we're a reseller, not a distributor - so we get the information as fast as we can, but we're not plugged directly into any internal systems, so it's a manual change, usually made by me... which means that it is prone to the human failings that we're all subject too... like sleep.... bathroom break.. time off... (in my dreams)... ;)

www.eset.sk is the first one that shows an actual version

I stand corrected Marcos... but nod32.ch is the first site to have the information freely available in a language I can read.. ;)

true - you could use that - but as it's not been "officially" launched, I wasn't about to publish the URL to it - and I could only fine the version of the update database available there right? not the contents of the update itself ?

Well, either will work for me. Because I need the version for comparing to what's on my LAN, I'm not so interested in the contents - just the number.

The version number on www.eset.sk is taken from a file generated during an upload of update files to servers, so it will be the first updated.

He asked about the version, not the content of the update :)
And he beat me to it by pointing that out.

I know - like I said - it's not launched... who knows if it might change before launch even... and I got side-tracked into what I need from the update page as well.

Nothing more than the version currently.
    Eset.sk was launched months ago

not the english version of the site - it's been coming and going almost on a whim - one minute it's there, the next it's all slovakian again at the same address, which makes trying to use it a little difficult... and since it's not LAUNCHED YET.. it probably a good idea to NOT publish the URL.

Perhaps I should have posted a link to the English version of the Slovak website: http://www.eset.sk/en

  15. I don't see any update database information at eset.sk/en. I tried clicking through all the links Please provide a direct link to this info on eset.sk
