    1. I recognize imaging software only in one way - backup and restore from recovery CD.

    2. How are you suggesting to test recovery CD, without buying the software? Last time I tried, evaluation version did not make boot CD.

    3. If, for some reason, loading of some driver fails and your software keeps looping error messages or crashes completely, or hangs, what is the correct name for that in your language?
In my company that is called bad programming.

    4. Some (looong) time ago, I had nice talks with your technical support guys (ochi1394_0 driver problem on Toshiba 5205-S703), but the problem still the same few years later.
Is that really normal? Should not be such a big problem, as TI 7.0 build 572 was working - loaded other drivers after displaying error message 4 times.

    This is actually quite interesting.
While ago Acronis support actually proposed me to compensate non-working TI with any other Acronis software. Quite nice, except that If I needed other software I would have bought it. I still need working TI though.

How difficult it can be to disable one driver from loading? One line in ini file? Or, it is more difficult and need to spend 5 minutes ?

    Or nobody cares?

    Hello gue_st,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

Could you please clarify what a trial version of Acronis program you use? What error message did you get? We will certainly help you with the solution.

    Thank you.

I have tried quite many trial versions (starting from 7.0) and none of them allowed to create bootable CD. I found that quite natural - otherwise one could use program without buying it.

Now, reading your answer I do not understand - is evaluation version supposed to create boot CD? If yes, why I could not do that? I have had no problems with commercial version, except that created CD does not work (due to my hardware, it works on other machines).

    Just a thought ...

I prefer only running from CD as well, but you could always install the windows version, do a backup of C:, then when you restore, it will tell you to choose reboot, once it does that I believe you essentially get the same linux version as that would be on the CD BOOT disc alone ...

    hope it helps ...

    Hello gue_st,

Please, try to use the next tips to solve your problems:
    - Eject any disc from the burner prior to starting the application;
    - Proceed until the program asks for a disc and opens the tray;
    - Insert a disc and then click the "Proceed" button to close the tray automatically as well.

If that doesn't help then we also recommend you to update third party CD writing software if any to the latest version available for free on its respective web site.

Please also note that you should use a blank unformatted CD-R or CD-RW in order to create a bootable rescue disc.

If the problem remains please contact me via PM. I will help you with the solution.

    Thank you.

Thank you, but I was asking, is demo version supposed to create boot disk or not. Or, are you saying that demo does it differently from commercial version?

But in the beginning I was asking - how to test boot cd if I am not interested in what TI does in Windows? At present, I have to image my drive, install TI, create boot disk, find out it does not work, restore my system.
I think you should understand that during 2 years this exercise can get boring. But I am still interested, when you will realize what to do if one driver cannot load properly.

Finally, I would like to ask why you do not use ini file on boot cd. That way it would be possible to user-exclude some drivers, if necessary. Some kind of secrecy?

You can create a boot cd with the demo version, but up until version 9, you couldn't create an image from it.

    Hello gue_st,

BugVic is correct. There is the one limitation you cannot create an image from it. You can create the image file only under Windows.

    Thank you.

Thank you. That simply means evaluation version does not create boot CD. I am not really interested in that cd writer test you are offering.

So, all the other questions remain.
Do you suggest that even after almost 2 years of constant failure I still need to keep updating to new versions (sometimes I need to pay for that!) just to find that boot CD is still not working?

So after two years of frustration, you still come back for more? Either work with support to find a solution, or give it up and move on.

    Hello gue_st,

Please note that the trial version has to create a bootable CD. Please let me know what error you get when try to create Acronis bootable CD.

Also please let me know your Acronis request # which was sent to you in autoreply to your letter to Acronis Support Team.

    Thank you.
