TI 9 build 2289 is still not final dear Acronis

    Edited: 2289 of course - typo ;-)

I have tried to run number of tests using TI 9.0 and number of operations.

    Issue:
    - Not able to create successful backup of C: drive to 2nd drive in the system using Acronis Recovery CD. Process is incredibly slow (8 GB of data) takes over 45 minutes and complete with errors.
    - No information what is the error as log is not available.

Same C: drive backup to D: using Acronis TI 8 build 937 is successful.
I can create backup using Windows TI9 build 2289.

    Improvements in the build 2289:
    - I can restore image created with TI 8 using TI 9 (not possible before)
    - I can restore image created with TI 9 (under Windows only) using restore CD TI 9
    - Speed of backup – much better than before, but still long way to go to compare against TI 8.

    Other problems:
    - Interrupted restore is reported as successful.
    - I can not plug image of files and folders – always needs to be restored complety. Having such feature is crucial. Otherwise I would rater backup files using WinZip or WinRar – at least I would be able to restore single file and easily browse through archive.
    - Lack of log in the recovery cd mode.
    - Lack of timer in many operations. Difficult to find out, what was the time to complete operation.

I agree the inability to browse the file/folder backup is a big limitation. I note however it has one big advantage over winzip ( which I currently use as part of my backup arsenal): it can back up in-use files, like my Outlook file, so I don't have to shut down programs before doing a backup. Also, I find it much faster than zipping files.

I ernestly hope Arconis will give us a way to browse these backup files; the result would be a very useful feature!

You can recover individual files from a files/folder backup even though you can not "Plug" the tib file.

    1. Choose Recovery

    2. Select the files/folders tib file

    3. Choose Original or New Location

    4. Choose a destination if you chose New Location in step 3

    5. Uncheck the box next to the tib file and drill down to the files you want to recover and check them

    6. Then finish the recovery process

This is working for me with TI9 build 2289.

    Dear Acronis Support,

Any response? Again no response over submitted form or via forum. It is starting to be very annoying.
Should all of us ask Symantec for competitive upgrade offer?

Have you tried to restore and use an Outlook PST that has been backed up whilst Outlook is running?

It would be a useful feature but I suspect that the resultant backup file might be corrupt - just a hunch.

    Hello ererce,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.

    1. The first problem is known and we are working on it. It will be fixed in the future builds of Acronis True Image. We are sorry for such a delay caused by our Developement Team being involved in the process.

    2. Could you please create the sysinfo.txt file (please see Acronis Help Post for the instructions) and send it to Acronis Support along with the link to this thread. If you do not receive any response from Acronis Support Team within 48 hours please let me know your Acronis Request # which will be sent to you in autoreply.

    Thank you.
