I Doubt that any time soon will acronios fixe the major flaws in their new true image 9 so Before the 30 day money back guarentee runs out,I Have requested A Refund which Was Sent to me today as A CC Reverse in the amount of the true image 9 upgrade

perhaps in the near future or when true image 10 is released will I Purchase Again, anyway the old saying, if it aint broke don't fix it, meaning as long as true image 8 is working well,no need to upgrade for awhile if not needed

I Truly hope that aconis fixes their problems as they have a great product for versions 8 and below and would be a shame if they went the route that other companies have gone which have ruined these companies programs

at least I Can trust true image 8 rescue CD To protect me which Is a very good and stable program

    Thanks

    Brett Moar

can I still buy TI 8? Does TI8 work with my Iomega Rev drive? the only reason I upgraded to TI9 was for Rev support. Otherwise I would have kept using TI7.

sad. Acornis 7 kicked butt. So did TI8 from what I've read.

    Hello all,

Please note that now we have the stable build of Acronis True Image 9.0 (2289), in it our Development Team tried to fix all the known problems.

    Thank you.

Build 2289 is the only version of TI that I have bought. If that is "stable", then I too will be requesting a refund, as it does not work for me at all.

To be fair, I have requested a link to a downgrade to a registered version of TI 8 (937). If Acronis refuses to give me one, then a refund is my only option.

I have never come across a piece of software that has been such a disappointment. I lost my entire version of Fedora 4 by trying to do a restore - hundreds of hours of work gone in one foul swoop.

Not only am I disappointed in this software, but after trying many distros of Linux, I will probably write off the last few months and upgrade to Windows XP.

Microsoft are a real pain - but at least their software works and doesn't need a degree in IT to use. I don't like MS's activation code any more than other people, but in 20 years of using MS products, I have never had the headaches I have had with Linux and Backup software that doesn't work.

So many people around the world are looking for an alternative to MS, but there doesn't appear to be one at this time.

I have used Norton Ghost for six years without a hiccup. If it hadn't bowed down to pressure from MS, I would probably still be using it with Linux.

The last few months have been a real eye-opener about how we are all at the mercy of MS.

Peter Norton has always been my only defense against MS, and now even he has deserted us. It is indeed a sad time for people who have been bitten by the computer bug since 1980 and are now seeing both MS and the Internet choked by red tape.

Yes I am old; but the loss of freedom and sharing that built the industry in the first place is so sad. The small amount of personal piracy that went on between home users helped in the long run to get MS where it is today. The attempts by companies to try and stop it, is only going to kill the enthusiasm of newcomers - and without newcomers; the whole industry will suffer.

Let's get back to trying to help each other instead of sueing each other. It is not the average "Joe" who is causing the problems, but professional hackers. No one can stop them anyway, so why punish the rest of us.

    Fed up and burnt out,

    Graham

Acronis True Image 9.0 (build 2289) is certainly not fixed yet ( it is not a stable build as reported above) as anyone can see by the many problem threads in this forum....here is just one example: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=101821.

    Irina,

As I said in my post I have requested support to give me access to a registered version of TI 8 (937), but have had no reply as yet.

I am really sorry for the inconvenieces too. As it is now 2:30am, I think I should get some sleep.

Maybe Santa Claus will give me a present when I wake up.

    Hi Irina,

    The ticket number is 381812.

Support have given me a link to download an ISO of the TI 8 (937) Rescue Disc.

I was able to use this disk to verify my TI 9 image was valid and to restore my original partitions and data.

However, Fedora won't boot as I get the message "Missing Operating System". I feel this may be because of a damaged MBR. I will try to find an answer in the Fedora forum.

The TI 8 Rescue Disc seems to work pefectly and does exactly what it says it will do. Hopefully TI 9 will be fixed soon and my installation will then work.

For now, I am satisfied with just having a CD that works. It does what I want - backs up and restores Linux. For me, that's all I need from a backup program. I can continue to use Norton Ghost for Windows.

I hope for everyone's sake, TI 9 is fixed soon.

    Graham

    Hello Aussie,

We cannot reproduce your problem in our Testing Lab. We need diagnostic information from you. Could you please create the sysinfo.txt file with the 937 build and the sysinfo.txt file with the 2289 build and send this information to Michael Levchenko?

    Thank you.

I have fixed the MBR problem by following the procedure posted by another member in June at: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?p=482297#post482297

My Fedora 4 installation has now been fully restored and is working as it was before I backed it up.

Thank you to all who helped me either directly or by your previous posts.

I am now happy with my TI purchase and will eagerly await the repair of TI9.

    Re: Stability of TI9

    Platform: Windows 2000

I am quite puzzled with all the complaints. I am testing the trial version (build 2289) at this time. I have just completed every function except Check Archive in the secure zone; however, I have completed a Check Archive on both a DVD and a HD file with no problem. All other functions performed flawlessly. However, I do not have any HDs on the USB2 to test.

    Am I just lucky?

    Hi:

USB2 external hard drives work just fine under XP. However, when I boot from the CD it takes forever to process an image on my USB2 devices.

An integrity check that should take 6-7 minutes takes over an hour and a half.
Same increased time goes for all functions when the image is on a USB2 drive.

Yes, my drives are USB2 High-Speed. Verified this many ways. Norton Ghost integrity checks it's image of the same drive in a little over 6 minutes as a comparison.

IDE drives work fine from the boot drive.

I did want to replace Ghost with TI but I use USB2 external devices to store my images.

    Re: Stability of TI9

I too had no problem with the trial version. But then again I could not backup my Linux installation to CD, as that is disabled in the trial version.

It wasn't until I bought TI 9 and actually created the image that the problems became apparent.

You are not "lucky", you just haven't actually "done" anything with it yet.

Acronis support have helped me by giving me access to TI 8. Until TI 9 is fixed, I think you will find you will experience the problems others of us are having once you use the registered version.

I am not saying True Image doesn't work (far from it), just that TI 9 doesn't work at this time.

I have been using TI 8 for about 4 months and it has saved me a couple times.

I downloaded a trial copy of TI 9 and couldn’t believe how buggy it was. Did this product go through adequate beta testing, or are we doing it? That was almost 2 weeks ago. The second day my system crashed (not TI’s fault). TI 9 said my backup image was corrupt! I went back to my ver 8 rescue disk and had no problem restoring my drive C. After that I tried a check image using TI9 it also said the image was corrupt. I deleted all traces of TI9 and went back to TI8.

I decided to wait awhile on TI9. This evening I saw a new build for TI9 and downloaded TI9 once again. But I guess there is something buried in my registry as it said I had 2 days left on my trial. After my initial experience with TI9 I am a little gun-shy without more then 2 days to test. The little I did check; it seems to work ok for me. BUT, no way am I entrusting my computer to a backup product that has problems without more extensive testing.

I have beta tested several products and TI9 has more bugs then any beta test products I have been involved in. As far as I am concerned TI9 is still being beta tested, but at the expense of paying customers!

My problem is that at least as long as there are stability issues we should be able retry TI9 when a new builds come out. TI9 has some nice improvements so I plan to upgrade, but not until I can gain confidence in the product.

I also feel like I am an unpaid beta tester for TI 9.
I wrote to them about a windows 98 problem and they wanted me to extensively document my problem. If they want to pay me a small fee to beta test that's fine. However, I don't like being an unpaid beta tester.

I will wait 60 days before relying on TI 9 to back things up. The engine is a good product but I will wait for a couple more releases before trusting my data with it.
