    Hi all,

I really need a back up system. A friend of mine who sells software let me try another product (which I have to buy in a few days if I like it). I originally signed up for a TI9 trial and while downloading it I started reading the forums and reliazed that there was a big problem with the new version. I killed the download because I am a noob at this type of software and I am not experienced enough to deal with ANY problems that may arise.

Tonight, while at a major department store I saw TI8 on the software shelf.

My question is,... should I buy TI8 now (theres 2 left), or wait for TI9 to be ironed out? They will both cost the same thing.

    Thanks,

Buy the TI8 now, as you are entitled to free upgrade to 9.0!

From My Own experience Using true Image 8, The Latest Build Of True Image 8 On The Acronis Update Page Is The Most Stable Using The Rescue CD ,Very Few Bugs If Any,True Image 9 Could Take months For acronis to Fix But As In Previous Versions,They always Get the bugs fixed, Version 8 Had some bugs when I 1st Purchased It Over A Year ago but not as Bad as Version 9 Which Is Unusable So I Requested A Refund Which I May Purchase again in A Few months when the Bugs are fixed by reading the forums, The only real change Between Version 8 and 9 is that true image 9 can Backup Selected Files Now But Since This Will Be Your 1st Purchase I Would Purchase True Image 8 Now If You Are thinking About purchasing Now Or If you can wait, Keep reading the forums and if you see Less Negative Threads For True Image 9 in A Few Months,Then Purchase TI9 When It Seems Ok To Purchase Version 9 If The Majority Of The Bugs Are Fixed, I Am Using True Image 8.0.961 (Is A Special ISO For My Mouse) Version 8.0.937 Won't detect My PS/2 Mouse,I Would Reccomend Getting A USB Mouse If You are In A Need Of A New Mouse Which I Should Have But Maybe Acronis Will Fix This Problem Before It Comes Obsolute, Overal Arconis True Image Is The Best Imaging Program On The Market FRom What I've read,Other Programs Are Even More Buggy From What I've Read .. Some Users Say That if you purchase True Image 8 Now you are entitled to A Free Upgrade To True Image 9 But I've Read That Is Not True, What I've Read SAys That If You Purchase True Image 8, 30 Days Before True Image 9 Is Released Then You Are entitled to A Free Upgrade, Only Acronis Can Shed The truth on this subject But I Would Purchase True Image 8,It is the most Stable Version For Me

    Good Luck Choosing

free upgrade if purchased 30 days before release of 9.0, orm more recently! Of course it wouldn't only be true if purchased exactly 30 days (not 31, not 29) before release of 9.0 Also stated by Acronis on this forum, if you have 9.0, and are not happy, that will also give you a license to 8.0 to use until 9.0 gets fixed. So bottom line, it doesn't matter what you purchase today, as for one price you will get both 8.0 and 9.0

I'm not exactly sure that buying TI8 now or in the future entitles you to a free upgrade to TI9. Certainly if you bought it 30 or less days before the release of TI9 then you would be entitled to the free upgrade.
However, if you buy TI9 now then Acronis will give you access to download TI8 for free. I assume this is a time limited offer because of all the problems with TI9. I would expect that the download of TI8 will not always be available.
So I'd suggest buying TI9 and get the TI8 download while it's available.
If you buy TI8 now you may find you have to pay to upgrade to TI9.
Perhaps you need to ask Acronis to be sure.

My experience at work and at home is that the TI-8 is solid as a rock (use the most recent build #937). I've used TI-9 and had problems. When I first bought TI-8 I also had problems, but later builds worked great. I suspect that this will be true for TI-9, eventually it will be a great product, but not right now. If you don't need the extra functionality of TI-9 you may save yourself a lot of frustration and wasted time, by going with TI-8. I have uninstalled TI-9 for now and am using 8 again and I'm a WHOLE lot happier.

The bottom line is that my data is being backed up just fine, glitch free, and I don't miss the TI9 functionality (or bugs).

    Hope this helps.
