How to make NOD32 memory resident?

    When I first installed NOD32, I had another AV prgm installed. Since it said not to install the memory resident part with another AV prgm installed, I did not install the memory resident part of NOD32.

    Now I have uninstalled the other AV prgm, but I can't figure out how to make NOD32 my memory resident AV scanner.

    btw - what does NOD stand for?

    Find your Eset folder, probably under C:\Programs.
    Find amon.exe.
    Double-click it.
    Click the setup button.
    Choose your settings.
    Under the security tab check automatic activation at system startup.

    E-mail setup is a little more complicated.

    Yeah, I've learned a few tricks there. Written in easy-to-understand language for dummies like me.

    But back to NOD.

    ? Can you/anyone tell me why the default setup does not include:

    * Runtime packers
    * Archives
    * Mail archives

    I would expect these to be the prime hiding places of viruses, no?

    Do you see anything wrong with including these in the scan? .. other than time and cpu usage?

    What is a runtime packer?

    Well, NOD32 is optimised for speed. viruses in archives aren't dangerous before unpacking (and are besided picked by AMON at that time), same applies to mail archives.

    as for runtime packers, no idea...

    From the manual:
    These are slightly different from zip and rar archives.

    Many don't check these files because they can't do anything until they are unzipped, and then amon will find them.

    Hi Spanky,

    When you have made 50 postings, you are automatically allowed to give another member a "+ karma" (or "- smite") appreciation, because for example you liked his/her posting very much (or not o_O).
    It's a feature that comes with the board-software.
