How about a constructive response and not a snide, vague one. If you think that he should have posted on another section, then tell him specifically where. These types of responses are not what is expected from Wilders members.

By the way, this is the correct section.

    Hi tfdarwin,

One caveat of running EasyCleaner is to never, ever, hit the Duplicates button - the reason is that there are required duplicate files in the Windows OS. Setting the options up so that duplicates are put into the Recycle bin is recommended if you must use this feature - for advanced users only.

If you are running WinXP, I would suggest booting up the Options menu and selecting Last Known Good Configuration.

Let's Please not make a big deal out of this but the member did just join today and posting "Try posting in the correct section" is not the best way to Welcome someone to Wilders ;)

The new member is now in a proper Forum so let's Please attempt to assist them. Instead of removing un-necessary posts let's simply move forward.

I did not run the duplicate files option. I am having no trouble other than cannot get mail to open. I have two email accounts and both are having problems. The compose button does not work on one and the subject / from button in the other. The links are not working.

BTW; I appreciate the kind responses from you all. The snide comment was completely uneccessary.

All water under the bridge.. ;) ..and to tfdarwin, I don't see how my reply was "snide" ..but it seems like you took it the wrong way, so I apologize for that..maybe I should've rephrased myself in a more proper, welcoming manner. :D

P.S. Closed_Hauled had nothing positive to add to the topic except to give me a lecture..at least I had a "vague" response to his problem. ;)

I tried to open the system restore and all that came up on screen was a blank window.

Using Last Known Good Configuration did not change anything.

I am accessing bellsouth and my university email server. I can download to Outlook, but I only check bellsouth on my school pc. I download bellsouth on my home pc. I can access bellsouth from my home pc. That is why I know the problem lies within my laptop.

Also, when I try to open the search window, from the start button, it only shows a dog in the corner. It does not give me any way to search.

I tried the undo and restored files from the recycle bin. No change. Could it be a javascript error? When i click on some links, it shows javascript in the lower left of the screen. (instead of saying "opening webpage)

I'm getting confused. Are you trying to check your mail or open links in your browser?

What programs are you running on your system? Antivirus, firewalls, etc. ?

Actually, it started off just being the links in my email. Now, I am finding more problems when surfing.

With that question and now re-reading your first post where you say online email....I was attempting to re-produce your problem wrongly. What you are asking now concerning javascript leads me to believe that it's not your Outlook program not working properly it's something to do with your browser....correct :doubt:

Yes....with IE's ActiveScript(javascript) disabled many items want work properly and you will see what you describe "in the lower left of the screen"

At first, the email and links seemed to be the problem, but now I am finding it elsewhere. When I try to search from the XP start menu, all I see is a dog and a partly blue and white window. The same with system restore (just a white window).

I don 't know if this will help, but here is a hijack list; Removed

    tfdarwin

We no longer process logs here.

See the following announcement regarding this change:

    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=42148

Within that post is an image linking over to a site that lists a number of other security forums, some of which still provide that service. If you want your log reviewed, you'll need to pick a site and read their spyware scanning and cleaning (HijackThis posting) guidelines, following all their required steps carefully, and then posting as directed.

Some of the bigger forums for HijackThis log processing, (meaning they process more log threads each day than many others) are: CastleCops.com, Net-Integration.net, TomCoyote.org, and SpywareInfo.com.
