Hi guys, I don't know if I'm in the right place but I can't find anything anywheree else.
    My problem is......
I have a Freecom External Hard Drive running Freecom Personal Media Suite, the True Image software from Acronis.
    My Problem is......
Once I started up the HD and sent data from a particular folder to the HD, it sync'd and secured my whole PC. Now everytime I log onto my PC every folder and application requires a password.

I have tried uninstalling the software but everything is still locked out. I have most of my apps working but it's a pain entering a password for everything all the time.

    Anyone have any ideaso_O?

    Hello WKD,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

Could you please provide us with the more detailed information about the issue? What OS do you run? Please describe all your actions before the issue appears step-by-step. Also please let us know what version (build) of Acronis True Image you use.

    Thank you.

    Hi,
I using win XP home edition and my problem started when I tried to send data to the external hd. The software said that I needed to sync it to whatever folders, so I made a new folder in MY DOCUMENTS, called it TEST, threw a few things in there and clicked SYNC, entered a pass, then the folder locked and nothing went to the hd. I thought nothing more of it, I was going to get my techie friend to sort it out for me. I carried on working and powered off. Next day I go and power up and all of my desktop icons are now displaying a LOCKED icon, every program icon is now a locked icon.

    PANIC SETS IN.

I try to uninstall the software, it does so and I reboot, but all icons and programs are still locked out.

So..... On my 2 week old £1200 laptop which has all my business information is now a paperweight. And there I was thinking, "I'll get an external to back up all my software so as not to loose it", when all I did was install the HD and it locked everything out.
Sorry for my sarcasim but I am really stressed and depressed about this.

You should contact freecom : their Freecom Software Suite can "lock data for security"

I wonder if you have not inadvertenly locked your data incl HD ( perhaps the suite defaults to lock ?)

I haven't been able to find more precise info about that suite on their website so you shoudl take contact with them directly !

    Good luck

    Manual for Freecom here

Her is a manual for a Freecom HD-3 and secure process : read thoroughly
They explain secure / crypting / sync

I am almost sure you have put your data in their "secure zone"
Can you access the secure&compress menu in the Freecom security suite ?
Try to change password from existing one ( the one you surely gave at sync time) to a blank one

    Good luck again
