This is wat I experienced with my computer:

From within windows. Creating an Image works! [build 2277]
From the boot cd. Creating an Image works! [build 2277]

From within windows restoring an non system disk works! [build 2277]
From the boot cd. restoring always give currupt image.[build 2277]


From within windows restoring of files from an image works! [build 2277]
From the boot cd. restoring of files always fails with an image is corrupt message! [build 2277]

From within windows Creating an image to my Buffalo Linkstation 300GB works. [build 2277]
From the boot cd Creating an Image to my buffalo Linkstation freezes. No matter what PC I use. [build 2277]

Please assist im on vacantion now and can assist to resolve these problems till monday! THIS IS FREE BETA TESTING ACRONIS! SO USE IT!

 

Yep, same problems with using boot disk as previous version.

 

True Image 9 build 2277.

Backup of the full windows partition was of similar size and completion time as version 8. Verification was of similar time as version 8 and verified ok.

However, a recovery was started and was taking over 2 hours. This was aborted after 6 minutes and received error E00070020 "The archive is corrupt".

Still unusable for me.

John will the image verify from the recovery CD? I would like to see if my image is OK if I use the boot cd, but do not want to actually do a restore.

 

Sorry, but unable to go back to see if the image will verify from the recovery CD. TI 9 build 2277 was run from a test partition, created using Boot-It, and run just for this purpose. Unfortunately, True Image 9 was not functionally dependable, so this Windows XP test partition was removed, and is no longer in existence. The reason why a verification was not done, was because of the indication that it would take several hours. This was unacceptable.

Will, as time permits, re-create another test partition and see if the saved TI 9 image, which verifies ok in windows, is verifiable with the recovery CD.

The image verifies from the BootCD. I was also able to create an incremental image from CD and verify it successfully in Windows.
Too scared to restore a system image using the bootCD, did a restore successfully from Windows. I had tried it with the prior version 2270 and it was a disaster.
Till a restore works properly from the BootCD this version is Garbage and I will be dammed if I suffer any more aggravation as a Beta Tester or should I say Alpha Tester!
The people I feel sorry for are those poor users who are not privy to the forum and are blissfully making images that will fail when they most need them.

 

Interesting size issue.
I made an incremental backup using the BootCD.
I then rebooted the PC and located the new .tib file and renamed and moved it to a different partition. I then immediately created an incremental partition using the Windows installed program. I expected similar size images or at best slight changes due to boot logs etc. The BootCD image was 178,265KB and the Windows image was 188,833Kb, a difference of 10,568KB for what is essentially an unchanged partition. This might be normal but makes me nervous.

 

Well, doing a restore from Windows does not help if it is dead! I suppose we could do a quick Windows install...add TI9 and then do a Windows Restore, but that is not why I bought TI9!

 

under windows, the image will be verified well by TI9.
under dos, the image will be failing to be verified and also restored.
if you use TI8 boot cd. YOu could restore the image backuped by TI9 without a problem.
Restore is the most basic function of trueimage. I don't get it.
it proves one thing, acronis are short of QA engineer.......
