    I still use Ghost (in addition to TI) because it allows me to specify how many full and incremental sets I want to keep -- i.e., I can tell it to make a full backup on Sunday, incrementals on the other days, and, after there are two weekly sets, to overwrite the oldest one instead of simply adding a third. That's critical to my backup scheme and seems such a brain-dead easy programming step that it's unbelivable that True Image hasn't added it already. I do NOT find it in the features Acronis is listing for TI9, but I thought I'd ask on the hope that they might have added it without touting it.

    Secondly, how about a setting allowing the user to split files into sizes appropriate for copying to DVDs instead of making me manually type in "4.37 GB" each and every time?

    TI is such a great program that goofy oversights like these leave me scratching my head . . . but I keep hoping.

    Thanks,

    Ron

    Hello milleron,

    Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

    Please note that you can schedule four tasks:

    - Task for the full image creation on Sunday every two weeks starting from this week with the file name week1, for example;

    - Task for the daily corresponding incremental images creation;

    - Task for the full image creation on Sunday every two weeks starting from the next week, with the file name week2, for example;

    - Task for the daily corresponding incremental images creation;

    Thus you will always have two sets of images covering at least last two weeks.

    As for your second question, just set up the image archive split size to the desired value in the Default backup options by going to the Tools->Options->Default backup options window.

    Please also note that If you want us to change the behaviour of Acronis True Image in any way or add some new features to this product, please feel free to post any of your suggestions in Acronis True Image WISH-LIST thread.

    Thank you.

    Hmmm . . . using TI8, built 791, the ONLY user-selectable item in Tools/Options is "Fonts" which is the sole entry under the sole category, "Appearance." I have nothing else to select and most definitely NO WAY to choose default backup options of any kind, let alone default image sizes. :'( Your suggestion clearly does not apply to TI8

    Can you explain this discrepancy?

    It's not an option in v.8. The header is "TI9" and that's the subject of the posts. Version 8 didn't have this option.

    Ok. Thanks. You had my hopes up there for a minute. Perhaps I'll spend the $$ for the upgrade.

    Thanks again.

    Version 7-8-9 of True Image provides options to split the *.tib files into user selected sizes. If backup files are created/saved onto another hard drive as cd sized files, you can burn these files onto cd or dvd at a time of your own choosing. This is much easier and quicker than trying to burn direct to CD.

    Well, thanks, but that has nothing to do with the questions I was asking.

    We hope TI adds this support - it's fundamental.

    Hello milleron and stevech,

    Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

    I am sorry for the delayed response.

    Actually, as GroverH mentioned Acronis True Image 9.0 Home as well as Acronis True Image 8.0 has option to split the backup archive to:

    - Defualt size to fit CD/DVD discs or ZIP drives (screen shot Backup_options.JPG);

    - Size manually spesified by user.

    You can set these option during the backup archive creation. Create Backup Wizard will offer you to select either "Use defualt options" or "Set the options manually" (part 2 of the screen shot Backup_options.JPG). Please find more information in Chapter 5.3.6 "Archive splitting" in the Acronis True Image 9.0 Home User's Guide.

    Thank you.
