    Hi;

    I recently upgraded my system to an AMD X2 4400+ (Dual Core) processor system and have been having a problem with 'hangs' during backup of my Win XP system C: drive partition (using the booted CD-ROM).

    My system in an Asus A8N-SLI Premium (Nforce 4 based) motherboard. I am using SATA hard drives (NOT using RAID), and the built-in Nforce 4 Gigabit ethernet port to create images to a drive on a Win 2000 system.

    If I boot the Acronis CD (TI 8-937), and create a partition image (of my C: partiton) to a different local SATA hard drive(my drive H: ), things seem to work fine. If I backup the same C: partition over the built-in Gigabit ethernet port to the Win 2000 system, it gets part way through and 'hangs'. (It's always about at the same spot that it stops- around 1.4 GB image file size).

    At this time the cursor doesn't move when I move the USB mouse, and the screen stops getting updated. I can see the activity lights on the two ethernet ports on my switch still blink (only in a more intermittent, slower pattern).

    I can still ping the Acronis booted system from another system on my network at that point.

    The Acronis backup seems to never recover (although I've only waited about 5 minutes).

    If I boot into Win XP and back up the C: partiton from there to the Win2K system, everything seems to work fine. In both cases I use an image password and normal compression.

    At other times in the past (before it got this bad), I've sometimes seen it 'hang' (from the booted CD) for a short while and then pick back up and run again.

    I tried enabling the other Gigabit ethernet port on this motherboard (apparently a PCI connected Marvell based port) and it has the same problem (from the booted CD).

    Any ideas on how to find the cause of this problem? Are there any known dual-core issues?

    Thanks;

    -Greg

    > I move the USB mouse,

    Oops, I actually have a PS/2 attached mouse, not a USB attached mouse.

    Hello gbohn,

    Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

    Could you please boot your computer from the Acronis True Image rescue disc and press F11 key when the "Starting Acronis Loader..." message appears? After you get the "Linux Kernel Settings" prompt, please remove the "quiet" word, click on the "OK" button and wait for # prompt to appear. Please insert a diskette into a floppy disk drive and issue the following commands:

    cd tmp
    mkdir mntdir
    mount /devfs/floppy/0 mntdir
    sysinfo > mntdir/sysinfo.txt
    umount mntdir

    Send us the sysinfo.txt file from the diskette.

    Please also issue the following commands:

    asamba dhcp -n
    asamba masters

    Send us the output after each of the commands;

    cd tmp
    mkdir mntdir
    mount /devfs/floppy/0 mntdir
    cat /proc/net/dev > mntdir/net.txt
    umount mntdir

    Send us the net.txt file from the diskette.

    Please send gathered information to support@acronis.com along with the link to this thread. We will investigate the problem and try to provide you with the solution.

    Thank you.

    First, sorry for my bad englisch... :oops:

    I have exactly the same error, but not only with TI8 (937), even TI9 (2270) freezes equally. For my, this problem appears on two computers (one desktop one notebook). I will send my logfiles as well to acronis support...
