    I have Acronis True Image 8.0.

    I can't find the answer to my question in the manual.

    Can I delete last part of my incremental image?

    For an example, I have an original full image backup which contains an additional 7 incremental backups. Is it possible to wipe out only the part 7 (last incremental backup) of my incremental backup image?

    Tanx.

    Yes, you can delete the last incremental backup, but you would lose anything from the prior incremental backup afterwards.

    I m VERY happy to report that last night I restored my C drive for the first time using TI, and it worked PERFECTLY. :D

    I need to do a better job of creating backups, though. The full backup that I restored was a month old, and I've made numerous changes since. So it took me about an hour after restore was complete to get back to where I was yesterday.

    So, I plan to begin making weekly incremantal backups, and I too have a question. Based on what's stated in the user manual, this is what I believe to be true (by the way, I am using the Secure Zone to save my backups):
    • I first make a FULL backup of my partition
    • Weekly I make incremental backups
    • This means my secure zone will eventually contain a FULL backup, and multiple incremental backups.
    1. Is the above correct?
    2. Can I elect to restore only (let's say) 5 of my last 6 incremental backups (not the most recent)?
    3. If the above is correct, is there a way to not add an incremental file weekly, but to simply replace the previous incremental file with a new one that contains all updates since last full backup?
    Thanks!

    #2. Yes. It will restore to the point that incremental was made.
    #3. No. Incremental backups contain changes since the prior incremental, so all incrementals + full backup are needed.
    If all you want is to keep your last full backup, plus one updated image since the prior full backup, you would need your latest differential backup in addition to your full.

    I recommend getting an external 250 GB or greater HDD and stop using the secure zone.
    That way you could keep a few full backups around, just in case.

    I have a question about incremental backup.

    I use TI since version 7.0 and now I'm using 9.0.
    I have 2 scheduled backups:
    One that starts a full backup at 16:00 every monday.
    Another one that starts a incremental at 16:00 from tuesday to fryday.
    My problem is with version 9.
    The monday backups starts without any kind of problem.
    My incremental backup starts and instead of doing an incremental backup (since my monday backups it's already done), it does a full backup again.Now I have 2 full backups, instead of a full backup and an incremental.
    I erased all backups and started an incremental, and it started a full backup ( I know it's normal), and at 16:00, THIS time it started an incremental backup normally.

    Is this a bug, or Acronis changed the way TI 9 handles backup ?

    Best Regards,

    DonKid.

    One possibility occurs to me. It's a little True-Image gotcha that's bitten me once or twice.

    Have you tried deleting the scheduled incremental-backup job and recreating it OR editing the current job, being sure to tell it to base its incrementals on the file that's created on Mondays? When you create a new incremental job, it defaults to basing its backups on a file that doesn't necessaryly actually exist, "MyBackup.tib." (Of course, it that's the name you gave to your Full backup on Monday, then that would be OK.) If your Tuesday job starts and finds no file by the name it's looking for, I think it would create a Full backup.

    Hi.

    Before I installed TI 9, everything was working fine.
    I recreated the schedules again and deleted those ones from TI 8.
    All I can say they are accurately the same.No differences between schedules from version 8 to 9.
    I think it´s a bug.

    Best Regards,

    DonKid.

    Hello DonKid,

    Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

    First of all please make sure that you have selected the same file name for both full and incremental images. If that's not the case and Acronis True Image 9.0 still creates full images instead of incremental for some reasons then please do the following:

    - Download and run schedmgr.exe application;

    - Issue the following commands:

    service stop
    service uninstall

    - Close schedmgr;

    - Replace schedhlp.exe and schedul2.exe files in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Acronis\Schedule2 folder with the files from this ZIP archive.

    - Run schedmgr application once again;

    - Issue the following commands:

    service install
    service start

    - Close schedmgr;

    If the problem still persists then please do the following:

    - Open the command prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd);

    - Run the following command in the folder the schedmgr.exe file was saved to:

    schedmgr get report > schedreport.txt

    - Collect schedreport.txt;

    - Run Acronis Schedule Manager program (schedmgr.exe) one more;

    - Issue the following command:

    set logflags support

    - Schedule backup creation once again;

    - Wait until the scheduled backup will fail;

    - Collect the log file schedul2.log that is placed in the \Program Files\Common
    Files\Acronis\Schedule2 folder;

    Please also collect the following information:

    - Find the full version name and build number as it is shown here;

    - What is the file name of the initial full image that is being created on Mondays?

    - What is the file names of the full images that are being created instead of incrementals?

    - Reproduce the problem and collect Acronis True Image 9.0 log which can be saved from Tools -> Show Log -> Diskette icon.

    Send all the collected files and information to support@acronis.com along with the step-by-step description of the actions taken before the problem appears and the link to this thread. We will investigate the problem and try to provide you with the solution.

    Thank you.

    Hi Alexey

    I downloaded those files, replaced schedhlp.exe and schedul2.exe.
    When I try to start the service again, I get an error 3 (can´t find the specific place) and the service can´t start.
    I´m using the latest build 2247.
    My full backup and incremental backup have the same name.
    My full backup start with file for example: test1.tib and my incremental starts with test7.tib.
    Even I copying schedhlp.exe and schedul2.exe back, the service still can´t start, so I had to reinstal TI 9 build 2247, and my incremental backup is creating a full backup.

    Best Regards,

    DonKid.

    Hello DonKid,

    I'm glad to hear that your issue has been solved.

    The point is that as I fugured out later it was a bug and it has been fixed in build 2259. Please accept our apologies for the current inconvenience.

    If you have any further questions please feel free to ask.

    Thank you.
