Ewido and Trend Micro Anti Spyware

I am using the demo versions of both Ewido and Trend Micro Anti Spyware.
My PC is running XP Pro SP2.

Looking at the features, both products seem to do very similar types of activities.

If my interpretation is correct, then Ewido appears to be much *stronger* in Trojan detection and removal, while TMAS seem to be strong in Spyware detection and removal.

Both programs have realtime scanning and protection modes.

My question is:
Is it an overkill to have both these products ?
Am I *wasting* resources on two realtime scanning programs running in the background ?
Are there *better* alternatives ?

No, not overkill, but you could just buy Ewido and install a hostfile:http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm , along with Spywareblaster and Microsoft Antispyware (if you run XP):http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx it will save some $ and is as good or better.

Sorry to hijack your thread, just wondering if I'll have any problems running NOD and Ewido together?

Is Ewido a Trojan scanner only. Does it have AV scanning ability as well. Will that conflict with NOD?

 

No, it won't. you can of course never say for sure that you won't have conflicts, but you have a 14 day trial to find out. Ewido is a full suite meaning scanner & more importantly a real-time monitor, after the trial it automaticly disables the monitor and becomes a scanner only if you don't buy a license.

I would like to add that I once used nod and ewido together and they worked very well indeed; no conflicts whatsoever!
