Hello, I created a image of my harddrive using TI 8, and it is about 4.7 GB.

Is it possible to split, or edit the contents of the file? I want to be able to burn it to DVD, and,
1: The file is too big to begin with, it won't burn on my DVDs at all,
2: The max file size is 2 GB.

    Any help? ;)

You can't edit the contents of an image, and it is not advisable to split the image after it is created.

Make a new image and use the feature in True Image to split the file. If you select 1492MB, you will be able to burn three parts of the image to each DVD with minimal waste.

    Thanks for the reply.

So, it's not advisable to split it? But it's possible? Is it not advisable because you might lose data? I kind of wanted to just use the image I created, because now I have much more programs and things that I wouldn't really want in the image, but I guess I could do it, since I would have to use more than 1 DVD anyway.

I have another question, I guess its OK to ask in this thread?

Well, I was wondering how to get a bootable DVD? I know you can get a bootable CD, and choose the image from there, but is it possable to put the bootable stuff on a DVD, and the image also?

You can use whatver method to split the file that you like. But be aware that you will need to use the corresponding join method before you can use the image.

You can create a bootable DVD using any of the methods described in this thread: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=48186

Ah, I was thinking more of the lines of splitting the file in TI, so its usable in the Boot CD.

And thanks for the link, checking it out now! :D Cheers!

If you want to use the file in True Image, you need to split it when you create it. As wdorman said, you can split the file with any utility as long as you use that utility to rejoin it before the restore step. That means that Windows needs to be functional to do the rejoining in most cases. However, that's not a problem if you have one image split by TI to restore to get up and running. At that point, you can rejoin the image you have and restore it to get back to where you want to be. Boy, that sounds so Zen. :)
