Using a computer? Well in the late 60s and early 70s I worked for the Alaska Railroad and prepared abstracts for the person who entered the information into the computer, but I didn't actually get to touch the computer. ;)

In the early 80s, we were living temporarily in Anchorage while my husband worked on a high-voltage power line construction job. He was away most of the time, and the kids were in school all day. My son had an Apple computer in his class. One day we saw an ad in the paper for an Apple II+ on sale for a price within our budget. We rushed down to get it before they sold them all. So while my husband was off flying in helicopters and my kids slaved over the textbooks, I played around on the computer all day learning to program in Apple Basic. Computers have been my hobby ever since. More details on this story if you are interested.
