When making a boot CD, I get a message saying, "error creating boot CD".

I have tried both an internal CD and an external firewire CD/DVD burner. I use TDK CD-R's. I have disabled Roxio's Drag2Disk and rebooted. I have unplugged other USB devices.

    Using TI V8, build 937 on a Win98se Dell, 700 P-III.

    What's the problem?

    Thanks

    Hello Conure,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

Please try to use the next tips to solve your problems:
    - Eject any disc from the burner prior to starting the application;
    - Proceed until the program asks for a disc and opens the tray;
    - Insert a disc and then click the "Proceed" button to close the tray automatically as well.

If that doesn't help then we also recommend you to update third party CD writing software if any to the latest version available for free on its respective web site.

Please also note that you should use a blank unformatted CD-R or CD-RW in order to create a bootable rescue disc.

    Thank you.

    Hi Conure...

Hopefully your problem can be resolved following Irina's directions. If that doesn't work, then you could try the following.

    1) Go to Start, My Computer. Right-click on your CD-RW drive, go to Properties. Click on the Recording tab, untick the box Enable CD recording on this drive.

    2) Try creating a boot CD by booting your computer in Safe Mode.

If this still doesn't help, you might consider following the instructions given by Alexey Popov in this post . It's the only thing that works for me.

    Irina,

I tried your method, and it did not work.

I have tried blank CD-R and CD-RW disks.

Do you require 3rd party burning software for this to work?

I recently uninstalled Roxio V6 after way too many problems. I currently do not have any burning software installed.

    Thanks!

    DLD,

Thanks for the tips, but I don't have WinXP. I'm using Win98se.

Also, I tried Safe Mode, but it doesn't reconize my PS2 mouse nor my CD drive. Don't know why, it always saw them before.

I ran the "cdrecord –scanbus" and it "saw" my CD drive.

    Thanks

I've spent $50 for a program that works great, except for the boot CD. What good is it without that?

How about some answers and a solution?

Many others are having this same trouble.

My OS is WinXP SP2 and my packet writing software is Ahead InCD. I tried disabling InCD and then trying to create a bootable recovery disk using the Alexey Popov method described above. I was successful in creating the boot CD. This would show that 3rd party burning software is not required in order to create a boot CD.

I've done all that! Support has had me send test reports, run a special version that creates a CD log, make screenshots of the error messages. Its all been sent to the Development Team.

But no one has ever offered to send this special ISO file.

Why don't you just provide it as a download on your site for me and the dozens of others who are having this same trouble?

    Hello Conure,

The reason for not doing so is that it is much better to fix the problem, so you will be able to create Bootable Rescue CD on your own at any time.

However, if we wouldn't be able to figure out what is the problem then we will surely provide you with that special ISO image.

As you can see, there is nothing to worry about, since we will provide you with the solution in any case.

    Thank you.
