I just noticed tonight, when I manually checked for updates to Spyware Doctor 3.2, that they listed "Database" (with the size), and "COOKIE GUARD" - with the word "REMOVED" next to it.

Has anyone else updated....amd did this completely remove the cookie guard? If so, there goes one of Spyware Doctor's most attractive features. Not sure I want remove that....so if any user has updated and was presented with this option, I'd be curious to see what happened when you did.....

Not here.. it seems to me to be indicating that the update was just removed from the server.

Hey Notok, when you updated....did you leave the cookie guard-removed as checked, but the guard itself still remained (just that whatever update had been issued was removed from downloading)?

Yup, even got the green "check" next to it indicating a sucessful download (or lack thereof, it didn't look like it downloaded anything at all)

    Hi all,

I am from PC Tools, maker of Spyware Doctor.

The Cookie Scanner has now been replaced with Browser Activity Scanner (bascanner.dll).

The Browser Activity Scanner encompasses all of the functionality of the Cookie Scanner but also includes new features such as warning you of known potentially malicious sites visited.

To avoid any conflicts, when Browser Activity Scanner is installed, the live update process will removed the outdated Cookie Scanner from Spyware Doctor.

Should you have further queries with Spyware Doctor, please contact us on the link below:

    Thank you.

I don't suppose it would be too much trouble to ask if PC Tools plans to have a forum presense anywhere, anytime in the near future, would it?

It would be nice to have somewhere to go for specific questions rather than post to customer service, and wait for a reply (if one comes at all). At least if PC Tools had a forum presense, other users could answer questions that moderators or company representatives haven't gotten around to.....
