    I'm running TI 8.0 (build 903) on a new ThinkPad T43 running Windows XP Pro and have a combo CD/DVD burner.

    I create the bootable CD just fine and create a backup on a pair of DVD-RW disks. I can verify the backup running Check Image while running under Windows.

    When I boot the Bootable CD, I try to run Check Image and swap out the bootable CD and insert the second DVD disk. Check Image doesn't see/recognize the DVD.

    I'm guessing the Bootable CD doesn't have a driver that'll talk to my combo CD/DVD burner.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

    Jim

    Hello Jim,

    Thank you for your interest in Acronis Disk Backup Software.

    First of all, please download the latest (937) build, which is available on our web site at http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/support/updates/. To get access to updates you should register your software first at http://www.acronis.com/my/products/registration/. Please disable any download managers, internet download/connection boosters, etc. before the download. After that please create new Acronis Bootable CD using the latest build and try using it. If the problem persists please clarify what exactly happens when you try to verify the image? What error message do you get?

    Thank you.

    I've tried the TI 8.0 937 build with the same results - TI just doesn't see my CD/DVD Combo drive as a DVD drive when running from the Bootable CD. It shows up in the device list only as a CD drive. There is no error code - it just doesn't see the DVD drive nor the backup .tib files on the DVD disk.

    Note: Check Image works just fine under Windows XP after I create the backup, just not from the Bootable CD.

    The drive itself is a Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-822S. Perhaps TI doesn't have a driver for it?

    Thanks again for your help!

    Jim

    Hello eilerja,

    Please be aware that this is a normal situation when a DVD writer is shown as a CD burner in Acronis True Image 8.0. This doesn't affect the device's functionality and you can use DVD.

    However, in your case, as I have understood, you are unable to see any of the .tib files located on the DVD disc which is inserted in the DVD drive.

    If that's correct then please create Linux system information (sysinfo.txt) as it is described in Acronis Help Post.

    Please use Bootable Rescue CD made using build 937 of Acronis True Image 8.0 in order to create sysinfo.txt.

    Please also do the following:

    - Start command prompt;
    - Go to \Program Files\Common Files\Acronis\CDRecord folder;
    - Run "cdrecord –scanbus > scanbus.txt" command and collect the scanbus.txt file.

    Send these files to support@acronis.com along with the link to this thread. We will investigate the problem and try to provide you with the solution.

    Thank you.

    Hey this is just a shot in the dark but have you tried the BartPE with the Acronis plugin instead of the Acronis boot disk?
