NOD improving at Jotti!

Is it just me? I have noticed that NOD has improved a LOT, looking at Jotti! There are now *very* few things it misses! Now now... i dont want any screenshots from jotti or any flame wars! This is just what i noticed in the recent past. Its really good. Good work ESET! Keep it up!

 

The ESET team are improving its detection and now the Linux version also detect Adware and Spyware...

 

I just took a look - NOD detected Win32/Spy.PerfKey.N

Yeah! And maybe the stuff it misses are False Positives and/or Damaged Samples!

 

No they aren't. NOD still misses plenty .

 

Like every other anti-virus in the world.

Jotti's stats are flawed, its not a way of comparing anti-viruses and their detection ratios.

It's just you. NOD32 still misses 90% of what I submit.

 

Hmm.. maybe. Well the av-comparitive tests are due in a few days. Lets see how NOD32 performs there!

 

Kalpik, maybe you should take a look at this regarding Jotti's and statistics from there.

I don't think you have to worry about Av-comparatives test, they always do well in this particular test.

 

Of course it will also depend on what's being submitted. Jotti states on his site (FAQ) that on average two samples per day are missed by ALL AV products included on his site. This is because they are so new as to not be in ANY of their databases of definitions yet.

Some antiviruses (F-Prot in particular) miss many samples when you scan them at jotti.org . Windows version of F-Prot detects them just fine…

That is why I prefer VirusTotal...

 

F-Prot (Linux version) detects 89.7% of samples in my virus collection. I've not tried the Windows version for comparison.

I think that's because most of them are packed/compressed.

 

No - it's not that. I have no trouble detecting packed/compressed samples with F-Prot on linux - it detects those by default (no additional command line switches required). Only thing it can't do is delete viruses from a compressed archive (or at least the free version can't which I assume is what Jotti's site is running).
