It might help with the cane toad problem.. now that is a film short I would like to see. Cane toad thriller takes judges award Thursday, August 11, 2005. 2:00pm (AEST) Short films about the dangers presented by burnt toast, cane toads, gamba grass and marijuana have won over the crowd at Darwin's Fist Full of Films awards. But the judges had different ideas, with film critic Margaret Pomeranz and filmmaker Rob Connolly choosing psychological thriller Toad as the winner. The 20 finalists screened their works for the seventh annual short film festival at Darwin's Deckchair Cinema last night. The winning short film, by first-time film-makers Kevin Cook and Phil MacDonald, is about how a captured cane toad inspires a man to murder. Mr Cook says the subject for his winning film had been torn from the headlines. "Forget about global warming and the war on terrorism, cane toads is the big issue facing Territorians today and we've decided to address that issue and confront it face on," Mr Cook said. But he says his co-star could not make it to opening night. "Unfortunately, we had to dispose of him in the recommended way, which is sticking him in the freezer," he said. The film faces stiff competition for the People's Choice Award from a deadly coffee machine and a scooter chase through Darwin. Each five-minute Fist Full of Films entry had to contain the keyword, 'charm' and other responses tackled marijuana use and a rapper charming the audience with a rant against gamba grass.

Because I just happen to reside in one of the most expensive areas of the U.S.A., the dawg gone weather had better be good. Looking at this thread brings back memories. Cane toads? I remember all them rabbits, they were every where, an because of the attempt to poison them you couldn't eat the little buggers (didn't do a thing to the rabbits either as I remember, they became immune). A place called Sue City N.S.W. was home for 3 and 1/2 years. Old timers may remember that place. Thanks Wildman

Ah but could you find Sue City? Nope it has long ago bit the dust, for you see it was a construction camp town. Was the main town during the construction of T-2 in the Snowy Mountain project back in the late 1950's. Another was called Happy Jack, an that was for T-1. Just for the heck of it, if any one just happens to know about this place or even better lived there, I would for sure like to hear from them. Also would love to hear from anyone who just may have happened to attend Canberra Grammar school during the late 1950's also. Thanks Wildman
