Nice body but she's one of those small eyed ladies. Large eyes are nice.

LOL - that's what takes the breath away - large blue or brown eyes piercing your soul (of what feels like it)

    OA Update

    Hi Guys,

Update on the OA situation - it's actually a problem with the new web server not correctly acknowledging that data is received, so OA retries it. It's being looked at now, so this problem should go away fairly soon.

    Apologies for the inconvenience.

    regards

    Mike

EDIT:: The problem with the server has been fixed!

Sorry, this thread is rather long and I have tried to read every post, but I may have missed it.... anyway the question:

Q: Can one run OA in addition to MSAS or do these programs overlap/conflict? I currently use a fairly minimal set of apps: NOD32, MSAS, SpywareBlaster, SpyBot, Adaware, AdMuncher, Watcher, and HijackThis.

Will OA complement these or just overlap/conflict with them? Specifically, NOD32 already contains an HTTP filter, and AdMuncher blocks a lot of malicious pop-ups and scripting attacks. I am primarily concerned with maintaining the delicate balance between security, usability, and system responsiveness/resource consumption. Any app that uses >3% CPU for extended periods of time usually gets removed. This has led me to my current set of tools which are lean and have kept me safe up to now. I used to be a PG user but after Jason left DCS I abandoned it along with him.

Overall this program looks very promising and Mike obviously is very dedicated to it! I will continue to follow the progress of this newcomer. Thanks for the answers.

Hi - you should find OA uses no CPU, except when it's doing something like checking file permissions or filtering http. It should not conflict with any apps you have running.

    Regards

    Mike

    Confirmed server problem is fixed.

On my machine, which occasionally is finicky about what is running, I have OA running with Outpost 2.7,Kav 5.0, BoClean,ProcessGuard,Regdefend,Prevx1 beta,Wormguard and lucidlink.

Won't debate whether thats overkill, but it all runs happily.

Does that mean you think its overkill?

To some degree yes. :D In fact I removed BoClean this morning. I bought it mainly cause I was curious about the loading which was surprising light. I've owned TDS-3 for quite a while, but haven't run the real time part of it in a while. Just not sure I really need a trojan specific program with everything else. I do prune occasionally. Still after helping clean one messed up computer, I'd rather err on the side of overkill.

    Hello,

I'm running version 1.1.0.125 and the most recent definition update was on 29/07. When updating automatically or manually the program keeps telling me that there's an "Internet Connection Error". See also my previous post about the same problem.
Do I have to install a new version of OA with a new key?

    Kind regards,

    PeterVO

Interesting decision. I would have dropped Prevx1 beta myself.
Too many HIPS, not enough Signature scanners. KAV is good, but not perfect, I would have kept Boclean just in case.

But I suppose being a professional beta tester you had to keep Prevx1

Not really. As I stated BoClean was bought out of curiousity. I don't have any obligation to Prevx1 as I am a paid license user and can do as I wish. Prevx1 has some interesting potential, along with Online Armor, which I am liking also. Since there are no conflicts and loading I leave them both on.

Just so there absolutely no misunderstanding, my decision to remove BoClean should not in any way be construed as a negative. I just think KAV 5.0 along with the intrusion protection approach is more than adequate. I chose to purchase BoClean out of curiosity. Also I have watched how Kevin and Nancy conduct themselves and I don't mind supporting them with the purchase. IF one wants to continue with the pure anti trojan approach I would certainly recommend trying BoClean. I hope this answers the question.

    Pete

PS If use of the word professional implies being paid, I wish. I do it for fun and to help improve products I see as vital to my interests of safety online.

That's pretty much what I think at this stage. I started a thread called 'The Perfect HIPS?' listing everything I wanted in a HIPS, and was pleasantly surprised when Mike said that OA was aiming to do all that and more.

So it seems that both Prevx1 and OA are heading in similar directions. As I don't know just how much Prevx1 is aiming to put into their product, can't say which will end up the better, but OA looks promising :)

    Hi PeterVO (and everybody else)

You will need to download the new Online Armor and get a new key from me. I've given out so many trial keys (as well as burning thru them during my testing) without tracking who got them that there was no way to adequately delete the obsolete ones.

So, sorry for the inconvenience, but yes a new key is needed.

Edit: Please email your request to mike at tallemu .com - I want to make sure I'm properly logging who keys are issued to with the appropriate notation on the record for beta test team.

Just installed the latest version, best install to date, not an issue, including fast popup between install and waiting for "what's next" (back to the desktop) was only around 10 seconds.

    Very nice Mike.

    Cheers :D

This would be the major reason why I'm very much looking forward to watching OA evolve.

It would also be rather nice to only have to rely on one HIPS. I'll be quite pleased when OA achieves that.

Thanks for the permanent key Mike.

Just thought you should know though - I downloaded the latest version OA, and it now sits at 95-99% CPU usage :(
