This pic of my dogs plus my brother's now deceased dog (far left) started out on the dune background that comes as one of the default xp desktops -- i think called wind or something (?). I ended up not liking it magnified so changed the colors and blurred it. Then I added some grain because it was too smooth looking. Didn't help much, but anyway, aren't the dogs cute!

Thanks Marja! I struggle with colors alot because I don't usually know what the various controls actually mean. Different programs use different terms. If I only knew what they all meant!

Koi all have their own personalities, believe it or not. I'm not sure you could tell if they were in a tank, but in a pond they find ways of expressing themselves.

I was fooling around with frames. I recently aquired Auto FX's Photographic Edges.

This is an effect from a free program from flaming pear called, Primus. It is very easy to use. I didn't see it on their website last time I looked, but if someone is dying to have it I can probably email it or something. You may have to register it though.

Big Buck, I'm sorry to hear about the passing of your pet fish. I see the two of you were very close. For future reference, it's usually not such a good idea to take your pet fish for a walk.

BTW, are you smoking in that picture? It almost looks like a bolt through your neck, but I'm sure that's just a coincidence :D :D :D

The attached portrait is of a dearly remembered dog of one of my roommates

The Frame was done with AFX - Photographic Edges. I get that people don't generally like the frames effect because its difficult to use. It does seem a little tricky. The advantage is that you can make frames that are not so obviously a small pattern being repeated. I gather most of you use tubes and bevels for frames most of the time. My sister says she does all her frames with Adobe Illustrator, a vector graphics program. As you may have guessed, I use plugins for all my frames.

BTW Big Buck, Nice find on that PhotoMozambique filter. I will try to get my mits on it!

Hey, nice picture and very nice frame too! :)

that program reminds me of the one you told about in post#1529
...remember PhotoMontage? this one is similar but it is free, yeah! :)

I tried it and it worked just fine, especially on close-up pics.

Nice pics Uguel and thanks for the translation! You can put your own Bitmaps in the 'vignette' (isn't that a salad dressing? :D ) folder and it will use them. I was messing around with it a bit.....I renamed the old vignette folder vignette.old and created a new one with my own bitmaps (think it only works with bitmaps?).

Help! Photomontage would not make a photo when I substituted my own bitmap images. It said:

    Fichier introuvableo_O

"Fichier introuvable" means that the file cannot be found.
But hold on... do you really mean Photomontage or "PhotoMosaic"?.... for if it is PhotoMosaic you should not have any problem when you want to add (or substitute) a bitmap image in the folder if you want that image to be part of the mosaic. You can take any .jpg that you already have, save it as a bitmap, then you add it in the vignette folder or micro-image folder. Once you do that, you can open a new picture in PhotoMosaic and see if you can see your vignette in it. I tried it and it worked. Although all vignettes were only 40 pixels, I tried with a bigger one and it worked just the same.

and if you really meant Photomontage then I cannot advise
you since I do not have it. :doubt:

I just want to tell my friends that I won't be much at the computer from
now on till the end of the summer. So instead of giving a new theme (for it was my turn now) :) I will suggest that we post any picture we're interested to share.

I will come from time to time in case someone needs help.
I wish you have a wonderful summer. ;)

...this is a pict of a magnolia I painted over with Art Weaver.
It can be done with PSP too but I find it faster with Art Weaver.

    Hi Uguel -

Oops, got the name wrong, I meant photomosaic. I did get it to work, but sometimes it doesn't. I think it has to do with the way it delimits the pool of BMP's. You are correct, you can can add or remove or replace images, however if you do it to much in one session, then I thing it ends up looking for photos that are no longer there.

It does resize your BMP's for you, but if they are not square then it will strech the images so as to make them into squares, so its better to square them first. You may have noticed that you can choose 40, 20, 15, and 10 pixels for the size squares it uses in the picture. this is apparently an internal calculation that does not change the actual size of the source images. Watch out though, you have to re-open an image before you render it with a different size box. if you don't it will render the already rendered image which makes it a very degraded image. Did you notice that with some pictures you can see the rendered image better if you take a few steps back from the monitor? I will have to print one out to get the full effect, i guess since my monitor is not capable of the 3200 px wide images. In fact, I look forward to having 1600 pixels...someday.

Uguel, I hope you enjoy your traveling, or whatever you are up to. I still have one or two pets left, but I thought I would do a recap of Sonia, Neeko, Ivy, and Holly.
