Good question. I really like them both. I'm focussing my attention on ZA 6 until trial expires then I'll take a look at Kerio. I did have a brief play with Kerio 4.2 before installing ZA 6 and my 'gut' feel is that ZA is running smoother and less heavy on resources. 'Out of the box' they both passed the leaktests except Kerio failed DNS Tester whereas ZA passed. There should be some close rivalry between these two in the coming weeks/months.
I've got ZA 6 free. Running very smoothly here. I haven't noticed anything buggy. I've never tried Kerio, so I can't say anything about it.
Running the latest version of ZoneAlarm Pro myself. It just came out today... and it definetly works really good!!! It passes all the leaktests I've tried at it. Its just great, I love it. I haven't tried Kerio and with my luck so far at using ZoneAlarm Pro, I don't think I really wanna try anything else. Doesen't seem buggy at all...
I am getting interested into this zonealarm as well .. but it will be hard to compare with Tiny .. that's all .. but I do feel that firewalls & kernel driven processguards are good companion... That's all ... but it cannot be bloated ... I do not feel Tiny2005 bloated actualy .. it depends on how you see it But again on Zonealarm .. I guess I'll install it on another one here and see if it does matter ...
I never even thought about using tiny2005. I nervous to try ZA because some people was complaining about problems with it.
yeah, I used to be one of them Notageek but I loved the open process feature cause it did stuff the others didn't. but the program was waaay to buggy and I do not like the AV monitoring (he??) ... it became too bloated. and I do wonder how it would be now honestly... ain't judging at the moment .. but I can see some pictures in front of me which would not let me to choose it. Sincerely,
My thoughts are that trialing them both is going to leave some left overs on my computer so I better dust of my reg cleaner.
yeah, don't mess with tiny, default is good for beginners .. just put your networkcard in the dangerous zone (network options) grtz.
I'm not a beginner. I used to use kerio 2.15 but gave it up for sygate and now I'm tried of sygate. I like the fact I can make my own rules in sygate. I think you can make rules in kerio also. Not sure about ZA though
Tried both. Browsing seemed faster with Kerio. Installed Blitzenzes ruleset as recommended if you are using Kerio 4. Tried Kerio 2 but had problems with XP user-switching. FreeRAM shows more memory free after start-up using Kerio4 over ZA. I've always used ZA but felt like a change and having to configure something means you get to learn something. https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=90351 http://www.broadbandreports.com/forum/remark,8023708 Ian
Ok I installed Kerio and played with it a little bit and uninstalled it and intsalled ZA and bam I like it. I'm going to keep ZA.
