I am running ZoneAlarm Pro 6 right now on my "testing computer" to see how it runs before I go install it on all my PCs. So far... it is running very well. I installed it since it was released to the public to download as a "official version".

Just wondering how long would you wait before installing the product on your "better PCs"... in other words, computers you don't want nothing to happen to or is this new version fine with no "big" bugs that need to be fixed.

Thanks everyone, hope you all can reply :). If I do not reply soon, I will asap. I need to go take care of some stuff but I will be back on the forums here asap...

Not the next update but the one after that should be safe. Least I hope so.

Yes. That is my current plan. My system is stable and solid. Most of the new features of ZA Pro, while quite interesting, overlap my current security features, so there is no urgency. I will wait until the product settles in and is adjusted to reflect user comments and problems.

Although the current release seems pretty good, it might be wise to wait for a few more releases before putting it on any machine that you're concerned about.

I think it might pay to err on the side of caution with this software. In my opinion, 2.6.362 was the only usable version until 4.5.594 came along. That's a lot of new bugs/new versions inbetween! It's funny that in both of these cases once they got the product very stable, they introduced new major versions that were full of bugs. (THIS a new major version.)

Hi everyone, thank you very much for your input.

I will just let ZA stay on this computer and update it as the next update gets released and then after another one is released like you folks said, then I will install it on the other PCs if it is working well.

However.... how do you know if say the upcoming update (I heard there should be one coming soon for 6.0) is going to be buggy or not buggy? Because.. they may not update it for months or so if its that good and I'm just wondering how do I keep up with this type of information to know whether to trust the version or not....

Thanks guys, and I will look forward to anybodys replies to my thread here..

    ~ Tim :D

Well one thing you could do is join the ZA forums.

There are probably always going to be bugs in any version of any software. It is rare to find one that has no noticeable bugs. But what you can do is check in this forum and also at ZoneLabs forum and elsewhere and just listen for comments on each new release. When it seems like most of the comments are positive, or when there are few negatives, then that is probably the time to install or try it. But keep in mind that it will probably never be perfect. At some point you'll just have to take a chance. :)

The grc news groups have been around for quite some time. The link is for the web based version which improves exposure/participation for those that may not frequent news groups.

Wait till it cycles through a couple of 6.x releases. Zonelabs does this with every version (uses the public to work out the bugs). Then go for the free version when it settles down. I'm sure it will be a winner when ready! Also, use the freebe MS Beta release of antispyware with it. This combo will be tough to beat for the money!!

I paid for the full version, and if I decide to use ZA, I desire the pro features.
